Hey guys my name is Matt im the general manager of the Iowa United TBT team. Just in case some of you are not on Facebook or Twitter we wanted to let you know what we were doing.

We have formed a 9 man roster that will compete in the 2 million dollar TBT tournament this summer. Our roster is constructed of guys coming from all 4 major University and a prominent high school player that went out of state to play.

We have already released 5 players including West washpun, Josh young, Tyrus mcgee, Nicholas Baer, and Reed timmer. Combined the roster scored over 12000 collegiate points.

We are releasing a player every day this week to get to our 9 guys and then we will also have a very special announcement with Nicholas Baer that you guys will not want to miss as hawkeye fans. Follow us on Twitter @iowaUnitedtbt and our Facebook page.

Sorry I forgot to add something. We are also playing for a cause called Fore the Veterans. This is a Iowa nonprofit that gets our state's veterans suffering from mental health issues and P TSD out for free rounds of golf. Would be great if you could also support them on their Facebook page at Fore the veterans. Thank you.

I posted about this a few days ago. Really looking forward to it. I’ll be curious to see who the second Hawk is.

Also cool that it’s all the Iowa teams.

Oh I apologize. I didn't see it otherwise i wouldnt have started a new one.

But yes we have one more Hawkeye that we will release this week that we are excited about. Should be a really fun roster.

I am not real smart but it seems to me you are releasing your best players. I should think you would want to hold on to those guys.

There really is no advantage or disadvantage in the order that we release them to our states fans...but I will say this...the 5 guys that we have released I would say 3 of them will probably come off the bench.

But it just depends on the matchups. Once you see the full roster I think you will see that it's extremely versatile on who we can throw out there.

Once we release the roster that's when you guys can really help us by going to the tournament and supporting our team there. That lets the tournament know that there's real interest in seeing this team make the tournament.

I think hooper56 was just making a joke. "Releasing" a player often means that player is leaving the team.

I'm interested to see who the second Hawkeye is.

Ha oh jeez...just reread...my bad.

You guys will definitely like the 2nd guy and stay tuned for the nicholas Baer announcement..something I'm really excited hes on board with.

Very cool Matt! Thanks for keeping us updated. I know there's a few grads during the McCaffery era I'd love seeing again and I look forward to that reveal.
 
Jok was just added to the squad. Should actually be a pretty formidable group. They need to add some bigs to go with McGlynn from Drake.
 
Really excited to watch this team play, looks like a formidable roster that could really make some noise (assuming they get in). I’m most curious on who the last person will be. We know there’s a “prominent high school player that went out of state to play” and only post players left to be announced. Current NBA players can’t play so that rules out people such as McDermott and Barnes. My guess is Nick Collison. Any other theories?

If any of you can guess the last 2 I will be supremely impressed.

Yes one is a player that played high school ball here and then went out of state to play. I'm guessing a lot of people won't have heard of him but he is a guy that virtually every player on this roster said yes go get him. Coach as well.

The other is a school legend.

We may even add a 10th guy that we would be crazy not to take. Still working.

( We actually did reach out to Nick Collison if that shows you how big our net was. We tried him a couple times even after he said no. The man wants to retire and I can't blame him. Guy had an amazing career)

If you hadn't already said they were post players, I would have guessed Ali Farokhmanesh for the "school legend"

OK let me pull back the curtain a little bit. I remember Matt a little bit from the capital city league but when I asked some of the players and coach if they were interested they jumped all over it that they wanted him. Matt has been great about responding, hes excited about it and hes a tough dude. He is a really really tough dude. Good stretch 4 but he can beat you up too.
And that's one of the things we wanted to do with some of our interior guys. Mcglynn, Matt, and Marcus are tough guys. Have a little bit of a mean streak in them... but yes Matt is not as well known but you guys are going to like him.

ICYMI...on today's Locked on Iowa podcast we announced that with the blessing of the Chris Street foundation that Nicholas Baer will wear the #40 in his honor. We will also bring a Jersey of Chris' with us to the TBT!!
Our goal as long as we have this program is to have a hawkeye wear the number 40 in this tournament every year. We are beyond honored.

Hey we certainly want to do right by you folks...and we welcome the feedback.

Issue with wearing the 40? Or bringing a jersey?
 
Surprised people find it odd. Doesn’t seem strange at all to me, seems like a fun and unique way to honor him. As long as his foundation/family like the idea, I’d say go for it!

Hey just want to give everybody a heads up of where things are at with 3 weeks to go before selection weekend.

Everybody is still locked in and if you have been following us on Twitter at @iowatbt we have a lot of content every day with our player weeks with hype videos, military veterans focus, Get To Know you, Fan Questions, etc as well as podcasts and articles on the team.
Also look for a story in the des moines register this weekend.

So I come to ask you guys for one more push in voting for us at the tournament. com. I think we are in good shape and have done some unique things that no other team is doing but we could still use your help. It's a great way to bring the entire state together and the guys are all excited to represent Iowa. Thanks everyone
