Any recommendations on size, screen size or model? Have read pretty good things and they seem to be half the cost of the iPad. I have an iPad for work (can't use for personal stuff) and also carry a macbook air but I would rather travel lighter than the macbook air. Just internet browsing, netflix/hulu/hbo..etc and reading is really all I need.

Is the $50 one a POS? 10 inch better than the 7 inch? So many options.

Btw I am normally an all apple guy, so may stick with the iPad mini. Just considering options.

I don't have a Mini but have always liked it. I can't see any reason for getting a Fire if you already have a Mini.

I owned an early Fire. Very good for what it was designed to do. But also limited by the Amazon-modified OS (based on Android), as well as the lack of cameras and GPS. My good experience with that early model means I wouldn't hesitate to look at a Fire if I were in the market, but I would expect more versatility elsewhere.

FWIW, my go-to tablet at the moment is the Samsung Tab S with the 8.4" screen. Recently replaced by a new model, so you might find it discounted. Interestingly, the model that replaces it looks pretty much like a Mini clone to me.

Should've said it better. Meant I am deciding between mini or fire, price being a big factor. I'm an apple fan boy buy even I know the prices are sky high. However they a reliable and solid products that lack bloatware.

Don't get a fire. Unless you are gonna go all in with amazons ecosystem. Get the iPad. Bought my wife the kindle fire hd something, and the only thing it's good for is using kindle unlimited. Gonna buy her an iPad for Christmas. That's just like, my opinion man.

Went and checked it out in the store. It was meh. Seems like it does the trick but I have been spoiled with the solid smoothness of iOS. So now the question is iPhone 6S+ or iPad mini.
