Disagree. Even though ESPN is more exposure, I find the vast majority of their announcers to be better than Meth Bowins.

My prediction is Iowa blasts Indiana because usually we lose with loudmouth as an announcer. However, I will be in Bloomington this Saturday so the curse of Beth Mowins will be broken. Iowa 56 Indiana 10, bank on it.

IMO BTN has some really good young talent. J. Laurinits (sp?) is very good. He could be a premiere color guy in the future. He'll probably eventualy leave BTN for more $. He's one example.
On the other hand the majority of P by P and color guys across all networks suck! For example how about the guy w/ Tim Brando on Fox? The dude from OU is atrocious. He's just one example. Mowins is another.

Having Beth Mowins actually doesn't bother me nearly as much as it used to, simply because there are so very few high-quality broadcast teams out there.
I would have to think that national sports broadcasting has to be an ultra-competitive business to get into. That is why I am continually baffled by the lack of high-quality PBP, color and studio personalities out there across the board. My only conclusion is that it must just be a "it's who you know" type of operation.

Didn’t ESPN layoff a whole bunch of people just a couple years ago? And yet Beth Mowins is still employed there.

Beth is as good or better than most. The quality of her voice bothers me, not her knowledge and delivery of play by play. I compare it to my dislike of Boise State's blue field. Good football happens there, but the field "should" be green, just like the voice announcing "should" have a Male timbre.

A few games I can think of - all were upsets and terrible losses with the exception of maybe MSU at iowa..well it was Connor Cook's coming out party...

Beth Mowins? I’d rather listen to a jackhammer a foot from my ear after an all-nighter of Thunderbird wine and shots of Old Crow chased by Hamms. Her voice reminds me of my childhood dentist. He was a little prune of a man with bad breath, bad jokes and mannerisms comparable to a Yugo with gym socks stuffed in the tail pipe. Beth Mowins is the residue under the deck of a mower that just cut an acre of wet grass. In a yard fencing in 150 dogs that are daily fed Hormel chili.

She's no worse than the moron who thought you spot the ball where hocks elbow hit on that reviewed first down vs ISU, not where the ball is. Or Glenn Mason. Or Chuck Long. I know those are color guys but there are a lot of bad announcers out there that few complain about. I'll take some subpar announcers in exchange for having most of the games televised...wasnt like this 20 years ago. So the talent pool got watered down. So what? Much more concerned with what I'm seeing vs hearing.
And Iowa can play like crap whoever is announcing. Blaming the announcer is beyond pathetic. I wonder what people would say if a male was announcing her words verbatim. I'm guessing very little. No sexism to be seen here....none!

I could care less if she is a women. If you are terrible at your profession then you plain suck. Call me an equal opportunity hater and a person with more common sense than a person who looks at the world as either being gay, straight, black, white, man, or woman. I am so tired of people calling others racist or sexist when the basis of freedom and of our country is that all men are created equal. If you don't love it, leave it.
Beth is better than Chuck, which isn’t necessarily an endorsement.
