Another deadly Tesla crash....

No, just the political winds blowing that way.

I can imagine news stories that say, "A major crash occurred on the freeway today, sparked by a human driver who disrupted the algorithm."
I can’t envision a ‘political correctness’ angle to assail human driving.
The argument will be made by data. Insurance companies will not read the data with ‘political correctness’ in mind.
The extra risk of human drivers will probably carry greater costs. It’ll fade as an option like manual transmissions.

The fun will come when human drivers become politically incorrect.

Hopefully I'll be dead by then.

Isaac Asimov was brilliant in many ways. 70 years ago, he predicted your concern. But you are no Will Smith. :)

I do expect a day where people who drive themselves will be considered pariahs. And we will look back (if able) and just be baffled at holding onto ICE propulsion. Both holding on to it so desperately, but also that we were so oblivious about what the long term impacts could be when humans started making cars with ICE by the millions.
