It's too bad Congress didn't pass the bipartisan senate immigration bill a few months ago. It wouldn't have prevented this but it certainly might help in preventing similar future incidents. Republicans eventually caved on the bill when Donnie Felon nixed it. His desire for a campaign issue was more important than solving the problem.
