Another ISU player jumps ship.

I think they win like 10 games. Is that overly optimistic?
Not sure, but probably? They really don't have any type of core of solid starters coming back. Until they actually start playing, this team on paper looks as bad as or worse than last years team.

They've got 7 games against 300+ rated KenPom teams last year. That's just 3 other games. I just looked up Bart Torvik, he's got ISU at 10-20 right now. He does still have Hinson factored into it but his algorithm is also saying Tyrese Hunter is only going to play 10 MPG so... it's not perfect.

Ummmmm....I think it's pretty evident that Loutsch is good friends with TJ.....and am positive he has Pollard's ear. It would not surprise me in the least if Loutsch, Williams, Pollard and TJ regularly get together to drink Busch Lights and brainstorm clonefanatic propaganda.
There were lots of people scratching their heads when this guy was hired.

So in reality, Pollard must be a psychic? Without even knowing the Texas/OU departure was coming which would hurt ISU financially... Jimmie was pinching pennies by hiring a level three HC.

I bet TJO gets a lifetime contract if he ever finishes with a .500 record.

Okay. He also has Foster there, too. Not really valid anymore.

I still think that's awfully positive. What did Torvik have for IA State on 2020-2021? I was unable to find it but I'll bet it was similar if not more hopeful.

Pollard didn't need anybody in his ear about TJ. He likes him and has wanted to hire him for a long time. He interviewed him last time.

With a new staff transfers are the name of the game. Who knows how the guy handled himself off the court. I give props to a coach who cleans house on guys who don’t behave on and OFF the court.
FYI, it took several months for Doodleberger to dismiss Foster, and that was after the sexual assault became public. More like covering his ass. And Hinson quit, he was not dismissed.

I can say emphatically that Hinson was not a problem off the court and by all accounts is a good guy who fought his way back from injury. Just a difference as far as what role he wanted to have vs. what he would have had.

Wasn't Hinson a transfer from Ole Miss? Wasn't he sitting out his transfer year? I'd bet he regrets that choice now.
Yes, he was also praised as one of, if not the best returning player by ISU fans (Hayes included) last year when they were awful. Kind of weird that once he's kicked off the team, he is no longer part of the rotation.

He definitely was going to be part of the rotation. Losing this hurts the team, as much as a preseason last place in the league team can be hurt.

I think Coach Otzelberger (enough with the childish nickname)
We'll stop when CyFan quits calling McCaffery various names, OK?

Their new coach makes twice as much dealing with the media and their wacky fans than he does actually fulfilling his duties as head coach of the team. Is that normal in a coaching contract?

What happened to the "Hilton Magic" that Clone fans screamed about for years?

Does that "Magic" include losing to D-2 programs?

ISU was heralded as a "basketball" school until they weren't.

Can't wait until they're giving away tix again to fill the arena.

Last season the rumors going around before ge had to shut it down was he was the teams best offensive player. This season we heard he was streaky but being one of the teams best offensive players again. The problem was he was also the worst defense player on the court. Otz is really pushing defensive effort and intensity. Kunc plays defense, can stretch the floor from the 4 spot, and rebounds. Blake only wanted to do 1 of those things. That's why Kunc passed him up. Blake was going to be in the rotation somewhere between 7-9. He didn't like that, and was unhappy for other reasons as well. So he quit. I wish he wouldn't have. We could definitely still use him this season.

Kunc was less than 33% for 3 pointers for his career at WSU.

This is pretty funny. Can we be honest, you just made all this stuff up based off of CF message boards and twitter. You literally know nothing, just like when you earlier said he was going to be your best player.

I go off of what is actually reported by the staff on CF and 247. Also what I hear from a friend who gets some info from the program. I don't go off of what I read on message boards.

So Pollard "wanted to hire TJ the last time...". Hmmm...if only he had the power to do the hiring...
The only way Pollard avoided being wildly criticized for hiring the current HC was because the "bar to clear" was at floor level.

For chrissakes, TJ was going to get fired at UNLV before ISU hired him.

This was about hiring a close friend at bottom dollar.

I won't pretend to know the future of ISU athletics but if I was a clown fan I'd be savoring every precious last second of this next month of football season, there could be some very dark days ahead if Matty leaves. I was shocked Hunter honored his commitment, will be interesting to see how long he sticks around

Damn. If I'm the AD and I can't hire my own coaching staffs, I think I'd wonder what the hell I was there for, and maybe move on. Cyclone state indeed....... o_O
What's funny about Hayes_30's reply is that he hired both of these bozos. He says that Pollard blames it on his boss but that's just excuses. And you know what they say about excuses...

TJ just got extended at UNLV.

TJ was quite expensive to hire because of his buyout. He could have hired a lot of coaches for a lot less.

Link? He just got hired and had a 5 year contract in 2019. Maybe you are thinking of SDSU? He got one from them before he skipped off to UNLV. Nothing new at UNLV, though.

Maybe high school coaches. Not many guys with his resume' get hired for a gig in a major conference.

And if Pollard paid that much to get him from UNLV, that's Pollard's mistake.

As a Hawk fan, I laughed when TJ got hired. And I'm still laughing based on all the chaos since he got to Ames.

The previous HC at UNLV got fired after three years for having a .500 record. In his two years at UNLV, TJ was sub 500. He was going to get canned at UNLV before that genius Jammie hired him. UNLV came out of this "smelling like a rose".

Ummm……okay?

“Otzelberger signed a five-year contract in March of 2019 and still has three years remaining on that deal. In order to get him out of the contract, Iowa State will pay UNLV a buyout of $3 million.”

Clown U and Clown fans sure don't have much to look forward to.

* This year has been a disaster for their football team. According to some (Heather at ESPN, for one), they were a CFP sleeper (LOL) and quickly lost to Iowa at home.

* They soon will no longer be part of a Power Conference.

* Their revenues will soon drop dramatically

* Matt Campbell is not going to stick around

* Their men's BB team is horse manure

Anything I miss? ;)

For the record I wanted a different guy, whose buyout was like 500k which is pretty standard for a lot of mid-major coaches. 3 million is a pretty large buyout for a mid major coach.

You're correct, I'm wrong, they didn't sign him to an extension they offered him one to keep him at UNLV.

Uhh... ISU still has a pretty good chance at making the Big 12 title game and if they get there, they'll have a good chance to win it. That would be ISU's best season ever, and it's not even close, so I would hardly consider this season a disaster.

Tell that to the Clown fans who were in tears and left the Iowa game at the start of the 4th qtr.

This was the year Clown U had to beat Iowa. Clown U had everyone back. The game was in Lames. Clown U and Matt Campbell failed. Miserably.

Disaster.

Don't blame anybody that left, that game was over.

The bigger disaster is the Baylor loss basically due to a bad special teams. But you keep doing you.
