Big 12 is slowly going down the road of the mtv jersey show. It's such a joke you shouldn't watch but it's also a train wreck you can't help your self but watch with entertainment even though the eventual crash is coming.
I thought the NCAA said you couldn't have a championship game unless you had at least 12 members.
Three million is a drop in the bucket compared to the 20-60 million a team would get by jumping to a better conference. Just sayin.increasing payout by 3 mil. per team, yep good way to chase of members.

I find it a little strange that in all this discussion of TV revenue, no one is mentioning TV ratings. The big 12 has comparatively poor ratings and with that, how long can they continue to bridge the revenue gap? Networks can't afford to continue to pay premium dollars for lower rated content. Adding more teams with low ratings will not cure this issue, but intensify the growing gap. I think this fact is a significant source of the long term concerns which Oklahoma has expressed. The fact remains that large schools with large and passionate, the passionate can't be understated, fan bases will be more sustainable and continue to increase the revenue gap on the other schools. Otherwise , UCF would already be rolling in money.
Payout per team this year in the Big 12 was $30.4 million. That doesn't include tier 3 money which for Texas was $14 million. I believe the other schools ranged from $4 to around $9 million per year for tier 3.
Add in $3 million for championship game and Big 12 schools are looking at $38 to $48 million per year. Seems relatively competitive. Just sayin.
Not really, the Texas Ten is locked in and the Big Ten will re-up twice before they renegotiate again. They will fall further and further behind.
The NCAA changed that requirement this year.
Also, I hadn't seen this brought up before, but the Big 12 expanding could potentially have negative effects on the Big Ten's negotiating position with Fox/ESPN this year. In short, ESPN/Fox are required to pay $250 million per team (up to $1 billion total) for every team the Big 12 adds to the conference. In this time when cable networks are starting to worry more about cord cutters and falling subscriber levels, this could mean less money for the next Big Ten contract.

Welcome to the discussion CyFan! I know how much you love Big 12/ISU talk. I just knew you'd want to be involved!
So tell us how it really is then. Or at least give us a selective time frame argument that isu grads are famous for.
Too bad, another thread about to be ruined by the village idiot.
Here is an idea. If isu grads quit showing up on this forum and acting like d-bag isu grads guess what I will leave you alone.
Naw their little bro syndrome will never allow that to occur. Keep up the great work 4 eyed cy.
right on time as predicted. Time to leave nothing of value be discussed with the village idiot posting the same thing over and over and over. I almost feel sorry for the good hawk posters
This thread has no credibility until LC arrives and gives us all his expert commentary. So just stop all this garbage until we have a valid viewpoint.![]()

more like 99%Oh come on CyFan, don't take it so personally. 90% of your posts are about ISU so I'm not complaining. You're my favorite poster.
ISU should just jump to the Mountain West Conference while they have a chance prior to the inevitable B12 collapse. Assuming, of course, the MWC would want them.
I agree that it almost certainly won't be higher echelon schools, and also that the quality of games would be diluted. But if there is a trigger in the Tier 1 broadcasting contract (like has been reported) that requires ESPN/Fox to pay $250 million for each school thay is added to the conference (not an outrageous sum, as Big 12 schools are already making ~$30 million in Tier 1 rights), I could see the networks being a little less willing to commit more money to the current B1G rights negotiation. Its doubtful that will change anything for the Big Ten even if they went to 14 teams. You're talking about one or two games of inventory per week and its diluted compared to the Big Ten.
In addition, the revenue you're talking about is over a 9 year period of time. While there would likely be a "buy in" period of time for the incoming team, the Big 12 would have to give some revenue to the incoming school, probably about half of the total. In addition, there may be some fuzzy math going on - 2.6 billion by 10 teams is 260 million per school over 13 years. We're already in year 4 of the deal - I doubt Fox/ESPN agreed to pay the conference more money per year for added schools than they're paying the current ones. They knew that the Big XII was the weakest power conference when they signed that deal and unlikely to poach higher echelon schools.
And there are renewed rumors about the Arizona schools being unhappy in the Pac.I agree that it almost certainly won't be higher echelon schools, and also that the quality of games would be diluted.
Long term, the SEC and B1G are obviously in a better position than any other power conference. But (and I know it's an unpopular opinion around here because of ISU), I really think it's the ACC that's more likely to dissolve than the Big 12, if (and this is a big if) Texas and OU can get along. Big 12 is currently making significantly more money (per team) than the ACC or Pac 12, and has a pretty significant grant of rights for the next few years.

Why is it that isu grads get so pissy when I point out how isu, it's racist students, homophobe/racist WBB Coach, AD, Players, Donors and website owner operators behave?
It is all very puzzling. The well documented and public incidents are easily linked yet they continue to get pissy when anything is brought up.
What I find most entertaining is when they get so pissy they can't handle it so they put me on ignore. They can't handle the truth so they run a way and hide like little gurlz.
Hey look! Another ISU post from CyFan!
Keep pushing that percentage up!
Hey look another isu grad that won't answer a question. The percentage keeps going up.
Another one! Yes! Let's keep it going!
Another one! Yes! Let's keep it going!
Says an isu grad posting on an Iowa site.
Absolutely! I can get more ISU talk here than anywhere else. All thanks to you! Keep it up. I'm anxiously awaiting your next Cyclone post! Bet it won't be long.......
How pathetic is that if true. isu grads come to an Iowa site to post? Ringing endorsement for isu in general.
More please.
Right again. It is pathetic that you're the top Cyclone poster on the internet!
Another ISU post from CyFan! This is impressive even by your standards! Keep em coming....
Naw, Looney Clown at 84,000 posts takes the cake. Hell a majority of posters on the clown report and cryclown fanatic also have thousands more. Ignoring facts must be another of those core competency of isu grads. Is there a required class at isu where this is taught or does it just come naturally?
Give me something else to mock isu grads for this is fun.
