It was either Hammons or Swannigan with the ball down low, back to basket. I believe it was Uthoff trying to guard from behind and in that moment it looked to be a nice chance for a turn around hook shot.

Suddenly Jok jumps in and grabs the ball like someone was trying to steal his best girl! He rips it out of the Purdue guys hands so hard he's falling backwards, and as he's falling skillfully tosses a pass to a teammate.

In many other games that would be the hustle play of the game! Yesterday? Just one of many.

No trophy's. Nothing special but an amazing comeback and beating a very good team at their place. But if you want to see fantastic basketball? That second half was the best you can ever expect to see, from anyone!

Good memory. Jok gets ripped a lot for his on ball defense, with some justification, but he has great hands and anticipation that make him a tremendous help defender and on the press. He almost ripped a couple steals because of his anticipation out front. He was a big reason why the press worked.

It was Haas, and it was a strong, kind of a bad ass, play. Jok went in there with the intention of taking the ball and executed.

I anticipate Peter will have multiple opportunities for break away lay ups in the half court defense as well. He was born to play bball. The quickness, arm length, anticipation, are totally deceptive from the television cameras. Can you imagine the difficulty from court level?

Here's a picture of the play. It was Haas.

Thanks for the corrections guys! (This proves I'm color blind) Holy $#!^!!!! That picture looks like Jok went in on a suicide mission!

J0k played a tremendous game even though he couldn't seem to hit a 3-pointer. His rebounding and defense were just fantastic. Also I think he is becoming a better passer and he is definitely increasing his court awareness day by day.

The element of surprise probably worked for him as much as anything. Hass may have never had anyone try to rip the ball out of his hands before.

Right on. He had a lot of bounce in his step yesterday and was focused overall.

Excellent post, OP. THAT'S basketball. Jok was fabulous on that and on D in general in the second half. But that one play epitomizes the Iowa effort in the second half. It's the kind of in-your-face, brazen attitude that MSU is known for. I LOVE seeing it come from the Hawkeyes. If they play with that effort the rest of the way, things will be fun. Shots don't always fall, but hustle never fails. That second half was, indeed, a thing of beauty, and that play by Jok was Iowa awesome.

B1G Basketball! Iowa Toughness. Great to see Peter Jok play with that kind of toughness. In fact great to see the team developing that kind of toughness.

Apparently, some have missed Peter Jok's transformation. This year he is much more Fit,
faster and his defense has really, really improved. He had several deflections/steals against Michigan State, also. His size, and length make him a dangerous defender on that press.

His rebounds were absolutely key to our win. We were within 1 rebound of Purdue for the game and Peter led the way. He is finally starting to trust the knee again I think.

Jok was playing really good D in the second half. He was jumping passing lanes, getting his hands in passing lanes, ripping the ball (the play you described), and was tough on the traps.

If he does that from here on out this team will be sooooomuch better.

Jok played better in the second half of the game than any other game that I have seen. Pete is usually a shooter, but not much otherwise. His defense and rebounding were tremendous, almost like he was possessed. Makes you wonder why he doesn't play with that intensity more often.

Jok seems to be trusting his knee much more...more strength, better lateral moves, less fear...

He is not afraid to shoot...I like that about him...well, most of the time...

Lots of shots for him next year with Uthoff gone to the NBA...

Jok did have a steal and break away during the second half run. It was between the top of the key and half court, just as PD was trying to get into their half court O. He intercepted a pass and went the distance.

Baer, Uhl, and Wagner, keep this level of play up we are going to

Those two need to start playing a little two man game, they're a slick combo.

No I'm stuck in Illinois. But hang around the board there are many great fans and some from the Des Moines area. I think they might even know places to watch and have a brew.

And, I don't know that much, just post a lot. A lot of guys can verify that. :)

Remember last year or few years ago, one of the opposing coaches said something about IA needing to step up and it help them on later in the season. I think Izzo's comments about IA being the most physical team, Clemmons's D, and overall getting punked is helping IA again (showed at Pur) and the rest of the season. Thank you Izzo for refueling IA this year! IA should be amped and ready for MSU in about a week and half.

I was thinking about that today! The North Florida Coach talked about our guys hanging their heads and stuff like that. (Not going to look it up.) About a year later and some of the same guys are playing like it's Highlander all over again and there can be only one! Haas done got taken out in that play by Jok! Hate that we play them and Michigan State again so soon, they'll have us fresh in their minds. But, well, ok. :D
