Meyer's match made me think of this. What are some of the great answers to wrestling trivia questions over the years?

10 years from now I have a feeling it will be asked "Who was the guy that beat Mark Hall when he came out of redshirt at Carver?" Alex Meyer

Few others I thought of and some I don't know the answer to:

Who Beat Lincoln when he came out of Redshirt at Carver?

Who beat Gable to keep him from being undefeated? Larry Owings

If Clark wins tonight, name another National Champ that has been beating by two guys from the same opposing team?

Jesse Delgado

Jaggers? Rosholt?

Good job. I haven't research this much, but I feel safe with Jaggers' amazing 32 career loses. Jaggers was pretty much in a class by himself for stinking up the regular season and even the Big Tens. Jaggers is a true legend. [Rosholt had 20 loses]

Who beat TJ Williams in overtime at NCAA's, his only loss at Iowa?

Without looking this up, it was a guy from Boise State and his name started with a Q. I actually road the train over to the nationals with Quissel's (that's the name) grandparents. I got his life story.

Dang, I thought the 2 teammates beating a National Champ would be rare. Didn't even realize all of those right under my nose by the Hawks. Delgado was the only one I thought of.

Maybe this is way too trivial, but...

The greatest wrestling event I ever witnessed was the Iowa-Iowa St. dual in Hilton Coliseum in 1977 (I think that was the year). Question: what was the name of the referee, and how much time was left in the heavyweight match when he stopped it for continued stalling by ISU, thereby tying the team score?

I'm fairly certain that it was Paul Andreotti, Northwestern that defeated Lincoln McIlravy when he came out of redshirt in 1993 for his debut in Carver-Hawkeye Arena!

Didn't Lincoln also get beat in the Big Ten final? If true, was it this NW wrestler again?

Was it "Spike" Israel?

Larry Quisel I believe. It's burnt in my brain.

When McIlravy's shirt got pulled and Steiner dropped to 134, who went bye-bye?

Long-time Iowa wrestling fans will recall the last wrestler to defeat Dan Gable was the Lee Kemp (see attached link). Lee’s son, Adam, is now an outstanding wrestler for William Fremd High School Palatine, IL (152 lbs.). I had the opportunity to speak with Lee during a local wrestling match. Lee is a real gentleman, a great representative of the wrestling community. And he is just as intense about his son’s wrestling today, as he exhibited during his career.

Gable said his coaching goal was to have 10 national champions. The closest he came was 8 wrestlers placing in the top 3 at nationals. What year was that?
