I know, it's considered a joke of a sport, but it's actually one of the more fun things I've gotten involved in. And following some of the coverage of events online shows that it could be a really fun sport if ESPN or someone would decide to cover it for the offseason of other sports.

Are there any other players here, or folks who follow the tour itself?

I play very casually. I rarely keep score. It's very fun to play.

In my last town I had a group of 8ish friends that would play early every Saturday morning and then I’d try to get out 1 or 2 more times during the week with just a buddy or two.

Now that I’ve moved I really miss it. I have a buddy here with a Discraft sponsorship and plays the tour, but he’s never in town.

Disc golf means different things to different people:

The coverage online of the tournaments is actually really good.

I was the same way. I played with a group of about 4 people when I lived in Tallahassee (Which has some really great courses) but when I moved out to Pensacola I lost track of it, plus with having a new baby I just lost all my free time. I recently got interested again after stumbling upon the Jomez Pro coverage of some of the recent tournaments and have found a local disc golf association I've joined. We play every Thursday night doing a glow round now that it's getting dark earlier, and I try to run by the easy 9 hole course down the road during lunch a few times a week.

I'm still terrible, and I doubt I'll ever be great at it, but it's inexpensive, a great community of people, good exercise, and really fun. I think if people simply watched some of the coverage, they'd see it's not as stupid as people often think it is. It takes real skill to play it well.

Played a lot in high school / college. Turkey Creek is/was a fantastic casual course. We basically used disc golf as a reason to get outside and drink a few beers.

I haven't played in a few years and wish there were some options around me.

We used to play a lot in college. I wasn't that good, but just good enough to beat all of my friends, which was enough for me.

I have watched a little bit of footage on youtube and it's fun to see what the really good players can do.

Yeah, watching James Conrad throw a putter 400 feet at the USDGC was fun.

McBeth is unbelievable, it's a shame he got hurt.

And I've got to admit, I love watching Paige Pierce and Catrina Allen both play. Not only are they by far some of the best female golfers out there, but they're not too bad to look at either.

Really underrated sport, IMO. Really cheap and you can play a round pretty quickly. The Cedar Valley has a few good courses and it’s often fun to drive a little ways and check out new courses. I love it most in the fall. Seems like most people would drink a few beers and have a smoke or two and just enjoy being outside.
Most of my playing was in high school and college but I’ve taken my kids a few times and they’ve always liked it. Can’t beat the price.

Have a buddy who plays a lot of frisbee golf and he is alwayst trying to get me to go. Maybe now that it is starting to cool off I will give it a try?

I always thought that was just code for, let's go to the park and smoke weed. That's the only guys I know that play it.

There's definitely that contingent, but there's also a group who take it very seriously. Here's some of the very serious ones.

I used to play a lot in college when funds were low as an alternative to real golf. I was good enough to have fun with it but kind of lost interest. Turkey Creek by the Coralville dam used to be a great course and then they closed the back 9.

Story was that the new guy that they put in charge of overseeing the area for the Army Corps of Engineers didn't care for disc golf. He claimed "erosion issues", and had them shut down the back 9 and rip out all of the tee pads shortly after taking over. And this was right after they had spent years improving the back 9 and turning it into a damn fine course. Really was a shame.
