What brand do you have? In ear or over ear? Do you like it? Pros/cons? How did you pick a hearing specialist? What would you do differently if you started from square one again?

The choices in this space are overwhelming. And apparently there are some bad actors in this industry. Anyone already go through this who might share some things to watch out for?

This has come up before. I believe going through costco was the resounding answer.

I went to Costco.

Free hearing test, you can try out a couple types. They only carry a few models so it’s easy. Order them and pay (mine were about $1,600) come back in a week or so for the fitting and you’re on your way.

I got the over the ear. Would I rather not have to wesr them? Sure. But they really do help.

What makes you think you need them?

My hearing is progressively getting worse, and it depends on the frequency of the sound. Some people I can hear quite clearly, while others just sound like garbled mush. It's affecting my ability to work. I can't hear people in meetings, and I can't understand them on the phone. It's like how adults sound on the Peanuts cartoons. Flying is horrible because I can almost never understand voices over a P.A. system.

Yeah, time to give them a try. It’ll help.
