Does anyone know if shamond Greenwood has set up a visit? Was to be in July I thought?

No, he hasn't finalized a visit to Iowa yet. The only visit he has scheduled right now is to Mississippi State on July 22.

Man that sucks. Don't know why they told him they were full until they actually were full.

Buckley probably told him that he was going to commit ... and they wanted him to visit before committing. However, once Buckley got offered from A&M, he jumped on it.

Anyhow, from what the coaches originally knew, they WERE full at WR. They probably wanted to make sure that Greenwood had time to move on in his recruitment ... and furthermore, they likely didn't want Greenwood to commit before Buckley did. However, that consideration backfired when Buckley committed to A&M. It's too bad that Greenwood felt that the Hawks need to "repair" their relationship ... because the coaches were just trying to be considerate by not stringing along his recruitment.

Young people and their fragile egos .... too bad.

Is that what happened?

Buckley wanted to commit but they wanted him to visit first. After that they told Greenwood they were full (bc of Buckley). Then Buckley gets the A&M offer, commits to them and Iowa then goes back to Greenwood and says nevermind, we still want you to visit. So he said, let me think about it. He told Howe that the relationship needs repaired. While I do get Iowa's position and he should have understood other guys could commit. I also think they should have waited before telling him that bc Buckley wasn't a sure thing.

Plus I also think they're holding a offer for O Martin.

I think trying to keep a spot open for Oliver Martin was also in the thought process. I still think being honest with the recruits is the only way to go. It may bite us in the rear on these 3 kids this year, but it also is the reason the staff is trusted and why we have established and maintained long term relationships.

If none of them wind up in a Hawk uniform my guess is later in life they will better understand and appreciate why their recruitment happened the way it did. 18 year old ego's can get in the way of rational thought......and those who are much older than 18 as well.

I wouldn't write off Buckley yet. He is planning on taking all 5 of his officials. His verbal to TAM is basically a spot holder at this point.

NOT CORRECT. Howe is wrong. CB and SG were both recruited in the same time frame with offers to both. The lean was to CB if the scholies became limited, but never was SG slighted or not thought of as top talent or displaced as not wanted by the hawkeyes. He is being actively pursued and deserves to view other teams to insure a right fit.

He will stay at A and M because of family.
He very well could sign with TAM. However, when you 'commit' and say you plan to take all 5 officials it is the softest of soft commits. I don't blame him either. Why not take 5 prepaid vacations?

YOU ARE NOT CORRECT

So people in contact and even the recruit himself is wrong?

“I’m not sure what’s going on,” Greenwood told HN on Tuesday. “One minute the coach (Bobby Kennedy) tells me that they have no more scholarships. So, I moved on. Then, I was told that they want me. So, I really don’t know.”

I think if they get Martin they are done at WR. I think Yeast could also play there, he is a athlete who could play numerous positions. If we get yeast, I see him returning kicks some day also.

This is incorrect according to Greenwood's direct quotes to us ("They told me there were no more scholarships left.")

The issue here is simply language. The Hawks could still value a player and think of him as a high quality football player ... but still not have a scholarship available for him anymore. When the coaches were informed, informally, that Buckley would commit ... they then thought that their allotted WR 'ships were filled. That is obviously no slight to Greenwood - just the reality of recruiting when you have other positions to fill too.

I agree they take 1 more receiver unless Buckley decides to switch. I think they'd have a spot for him, too.

I also love how RecruitR has lost all credibility in this thread.

Nah ... RecruitR still has credibility in my book. I think you have to take things with a grain of salt ... but I am under the impression that RecruitR may know some things that the casual fan may not be privy to.

There were guys on the board with legit insider info who honestly believed that Boyle was going to be our next QB after Beathard. The thing is that some of those posters were probably close to some of the players ... likely the WRs. WRs are the type of guys who respect athleticism ... and they don't always seem to appreciate the mental side of QB play. From those posters, I was able to gather that Boyle has impressive athleticism, that he was perceived as a "gamer," and that the WRs liked him. It turns out that all of those inferences were spot on.

This poster smells of Stephen Patrick. Lots of absolutes on predictions.

RecruitR is generally a very good source of information. I believe he has a lot of credibility on the situation, but we will all find out in the end. Let's hope it's good news!

RecruitR and creditibilty don't belong together lately. He contradicted direct quotes from Greenwood provided by multiple sources who cover Iowa. He's only got 50+ posts and joined in May unless he is formerly known as somebody else which I don't pay that much attention.

I'm not certain that you're appreciating that different parties might perceive the SAME event in different ways. Quotes from Greenwood can only relate how things were perceived from his reference. The perception might be far different from the perspective of Benjamin and the guys who were trying to help the coaches recruit Greenwood.

I don't know his posting history but when Blair replies in back to back posts contradicting what RecruitR had posted, I'm going to side with Blair who I know is actually tuned in to what is going on. That doesn't make RecruitR very credible in my book.
