I don’t know if it dates back all the way to November but for at least two months I’ve been smelling a a stale cigarette smell like you would smell in a persons furniture who smokes. All day and night I get whiffs of this.

Anyone else?

See a doctor. Phantom smells are no joke.

I did for about 2-3 weeks after having covid. My parents both smoked in our house growing up. I would be sitting down watching TV and it was the same smell as sitting next to their ash tray. I would literally look around for the ash tray until I remembered it wasn't there.

Yep, I smell that cigarette smell off and on now a year after "recovering". I also get very short spells of feeling like I'm going to get sick again too...they can last from 1 minute to maybe 12 hours.

That's EXACTLY the smell. Like a bar when it opens in the morning when they used to let you smoke in them.

My sense of smell is slowly coming back. Doesn’t really bother me since I never lost taste. Which seems odd but that is what I have experienced.

Is it strongest after you return home? Was your wife there “alone”?

Wait...now that I think about it...it's not cigarettes. It's Black and Milds. And every now and then I find random LeBron and Kobe jerseys around the house and empty boxes of Magnums thrown under the bed. Hmmmmm...I think I must be hallucinating all of this stuff as well. Damn.

Interesting. I haven't had the COVID yet (knock on wood), but back in the late 90s I lost my sense of smell due to nasal polyps. Had sinus surgery to remove them and regained my ability to smell, but experienced the same ever-present scent of stale tobacco you're enjoying. It went away after a few months, but it was definitely annoying while it lasted. I told my ear/nose/throat specialist about it and he didn't have any answers. Hopefully yours is just a temporary thing as well.

If something doesn't have a distinct smell it just ends up smelling like 3-4 different things to me since having Covid. I mostly smell coffee and cookie butter everywhere I go like my piss even smells like cookie butter to me and it's so weird.

How so? I have had the phantom smell of cigarettes for the last few months. I assumed it was from being a former smoker (quit 7+ years ago) and being around smokers from time to time.

It can be a sign of stroke. Also migraine.

Are you still smelling this?
I have the same issue and it sucks. Smells like a cig is going right next to me........Ugh

Do you smell it all the time?

That would suck. And why is cigarette smoke the smell? How is that even possible?
A friend of mine lost his sense of smell and taste back in October from Covid. Came back a month later. Then about January 1st he said everything started to smell and taste like rotten garbage. That hasn't gone away yet.

In Part 2 of our story, everyone who survived COVID-19 eventually dropped dead within the next two years and the vaccine turned the recipients into zombies.

Great, so the Covid vaccine is now burning your organs. This will help get the anti-vaxxers onboard.
