A-10 officials 36.38 fouls per game
B1G officials 34.15 fouls per game

Iowa .4 points per field goal attempt from the line
Davidson .3 points per field goal attempt from the line

More fouls = better for the Hawks

That was tongue in cheek, I'm sure. Pretty much the All-Star crew of officials who hate Fran.

You can see here who has reffed Big 10 games and their stats as well as all other stuff re fouls and officals. While it is technically correct that there are no official Big 10 officials, there are six men who called more than 18 conference games. You do get some usual suspects. The last ten games that Steratore has called were between Big 10 teams.

Pretty sure the NCAA doesn't allow this info to be released until just before tipoff.

I would also be willing to wager a fairly significant sum of money that the officials don't even know for sure which game they're working at this point. In other words, 12 refs know that they will be officiating games in Seattle, but they don't have their specific crew or game assignments yet. Could be any of the 4 games. They will very likely meet as a group before these are given out. I would hazard to guess that this will occur sometime the day before the game (Thursday in this specific instance).

They don't tell you the officials until betting lines are closed, so they can try to avoid any cheating.

I could ask my buddy(well he is not really my buddy) but I know him who runs Blue Zebra Sports. Look it up. Thats the on-line officials assigning platform for the Big 10 and 20 conferences. He might know but he sure wouldnt tell me.

He no longer officiates but the very first HS scrimmage he did I officiated with him. Some JV girls scrimmage. He no longer lives here. Talk to him occasionally on facebook.

This is 100% false.
.
It is technically incorrect, but part of the reason that the NCAA keeps the officials' identities so close to the vest until right at game time is in fact to eliminate the possibility of any nefarious influence from gamblers. That is 100% truth.

This isn't done through Blue Zebra whatchamacallit. The NCAA owns and operates ArbiterSports for all of their postseast officiating assignments. It's why the bought the company. And if anyone had access to that information, all they would be able to see is which officials are assigned to which site. Like I stated earlier, specific game assignments are almost certainly not finalized yet.

The only time I ever knew anything was when a guy I know who lives not too far away from me in Houston was assigned a game in Seattle between UTSA and Stanford(I think). It was a 16 vs 1. He knew which game he had before he ever left here. Everyone in the Houston chapter knew it too. I watched him on TV. He no longer officiates. Saw him and his family in a restaurant a few weeks ago.

Just kidding about BlueZebra. We actually use Arbiter to register officials in Texas. And Reftown to assign games locally.

In talking to an old timer (used to officiate in the Big Ten back in the 80's) he said that it is pretty much location and recommendations. Meaning that if there are Pac 12 officials, WCC, or even Mountain West officials in the area that have been recommended they will get the assignment in Seattle. But also if say Zona or Gonzaga is in Seattle, then they will make sure to get officials outside of their league (pretty obvious). He said that it helps cut on transportation costs apparently and also it allows guys to work different teams and allow the coaches/players to see different officials.

He did say that in his experiences it was either all or nothing type of assignment. Meaning if you officiate both teams during the season, you could get assigned to that game, but if you only officiated one team, that eliminated you. But it got me thinking when the games get down to the Sweet 16 or Elite 8? I mean these officials work so many different leagues, how is that possible to find guys who either have officiated both team or neither team?
