Found this interesting, and a bit amusing when you get down to into the 90's 🤡

According to the AP final rankings for each season, how do all the college football teams rank since the start of the poll in 1939?

According to the AP voters, what are the greatest programs of all-time?

Take all the AP final rankings and use our simple scoring system – the AP national champion in each season gets 25 points, the No. 2 team 24, No. 3 23, and so on down to the bottom.

Two interesting points after looking at the entire list. Iowa State is the third Iowa team on the list, after the Hawks and Iowa Pre-Flight:). The other is UCLA at 110 with only 12 points. That just does not seem right to me. Edit: As LaQuinta Hawkeye pointed out below, UCLA is listed twice. Curious!

Iowa State is around 12 weeks...I think?

The ranking isn’t how many weeks you were in the poll, but where you finished in the poll each season.

For ISU go to page 2 of the blog …

I'd like to see a generation-weighted version of this. For example...rankings in the last 25 years given a 1.0 factor, 25-50 years ago .8, 50-75 a .6 and .4 for anything older. You'd see some interesting shifts in the rankings.

Air Force Base team from the WWII era. Like Iowa Pre-Flight. The military basically had their own division.

Who knew?
They also had the best athletes. If you were able-bodied you were going to serve in WWII. The military base teams got their pick of very good athletes.

They played many state schools. Iowa Pre-flight at least did. Iowa Pre-Flight played their games at Iowa stadium (Kinnick Stadium). Even played Iowa twice.
