As long as Iowa takes care of business the first 4 weeks that matchup against Michigan would be awesome. Iowa would at the worst be in the mid-teens

Ranked games ahead of Michigan
1.) Oregon/Georgia
2.) Cincy/Arkansas
3.) OSU/ND
4.) Oregon/BYU
5.) Miami/A&M
6.) OSU/Wisconsin
7.) Clemson/Wake
8.) A&M/Ark

tough to complain about not being rank when your offense is bottom 5%
Yep, the team with a nationally recognized defense, perhaps the top defense in the Big Ten with 8 returning starters, potentially one of Iowa's best defenses in the 23 years KF has been HC, featuring one of the top ranked LB units in all of football, at least two legitimate AA candidates ....is ranked outside the Top25. AP voters know what's up with Iowa.

I do believe that Iowa will make a significant jump in production this year but that is based on an expected improved running attack more than anything. I hope the next excellent FG kicker is on the roster and ready to go.

Ap voters, coaches, all polls know exactly what is up. I also doubt QBs are going to throw to our corners as much as they did last year.

Except they really don't. It's the same system that routinely (at least before this year) would rank Texas and Nebraska in the preseason poll for no reason other than name.

You can't just discount the interceptions as luck either. Even before last year started we were #1 in the country in number of interceptions since (I think it was) 2017. It's a feature of our defense; not something that's only come about because opposing QBs just so happened to throw at our DBs.

Bottom line is we are 10-4, 6-2, 10-3, and 9-4 in our last four seasons, and return most of our team this year. I'm actually happy we aren't ranked, but not having us in the preseason top 25 is not a system knowing what's up; it's one that's frankly incompetent at what it's purported to do.

If history is any indication there are probably a couple of teams in the top ten that end up un-ranked in the final poll as well.

The PreSeason AP poll is the biggest Shame in history.

Teams are highly rewarded if a loss and ranked high early as opposed to the opposite you have to go undefeated for a chance.

Rank after week 6 based on what’s what.

This favoritism BS is old and people will tire of the same old same.

The system was supposed to change that with playoff but it’s made it worse IMO.

Recycled news every year, boring.

If these teams as good as you say after week 6 you can rank

It’s an unfair advantage based off of no actual facts of anything except for returning players and what they think.

This benefits to any team in the top 10 greatly if they were to suffer a loss.

This needs to go away.

Remember last year when the media was loving Iowa football for having quality wins over "good" teams like Indiana and the clones?

Same thing applies every year in SEC. Some big early win over some flop/overrated but it matters to whomever votes as they don’t slide down if said team tanks.

Other teams get lowered. You cannot be serious there is heavy bias for Pre Season ranked as opposed to Unranked and where ranked based off actual results.

If Iowa is Alabama ranked based off just wins and losses a lot different than ranked 15 undefeated. They drop out of poll as opposed to now ranked 5.

Umm.. What??
You stating it all works out in the end is half truth at best.

If you lose highly ranked your fall is not steep.

If you work your way up and get yourself undefeated and ranked and lose you drop because that’s who you were supposed to be based off preseason polls.

Do not see that as being a direct correlation in effect of overall rankings and position?

It all evens out in the end. You take this way too seriously.
And these polls are for magazines and selling hype only.

I don’t see how people are in favor of ranking teams before they’ve proven anything.

It’s fudges the bias and makes it so teams that are at the top will stay near the top usually no matter what unless they fall apart.

Even two and three loss SEC team stay near the top because they lost such high ranked teams based off preseason.

End of rant lol

I honestly don't think it matters. There are always exceptions, but the best teams end up playing each other for all the marbles at the end. The rest really doesn't matter.

They are by far the most consistent program in the west and we can't beat them unless there's a pandemic or they have a first year coach. I understand it
Maybe so, BUT, Iowa has been consistently top 25 team for most of the last decade, AND we have the most returning starters in the league coming off winning the west, AND yet we get in the "others receiving votes" column. If Wisconsin and other teams as well get in based solely on the fact that they usually end up there, then why does that not apply to Iowa as well?

They will be throwing to our safeties and linebackers instead then. The pass rush will be better, which typically leads to more INTs. Iowa will have 20+ picks again.
This. People act like this just happened last year. We've been one of the leaders in turnovers, and TO margin for most of the last decade. This is part of the design of a PP defense, play your assignment, make the other team drive the field, and force them to make mistakes.

It’s nothing more than a marketing tool for the early season matchups imo. I have yet to see a team that got slighted at the end of the season because of their preseason ranking being told low. It all shakes out in the end. Personally, I like to see is a fan the climb in the rankings as the season progresses than trying to feel like they’re holding on for dear life to a high-ranking early in the season. Plus you won’t have to hear the early calls for how Iowa way overrated when they eventually lose.

They still get the Omaha World Herald vote every year. The Nebraska press writers are celebrating it today 🤣🤣.

Nebraska head coach Scott Frost said Saturday. "Haven't had camp letdowns like I've seen before."

compliment or backing over the former team(s) with a bus?? you make the call.

I’m not sure what your point is. I was agreeing with you and using Iowa’s 2021 season as an example of when it helped us out. Indiana and ISU were media darlings until they were exposed.
