Iowa Wrestling Fan Club 2 on Fb posted video that seemed like HAWK Club party and at the end Brands says something like "since Missouri lost, it looks likes Appalachian State".

Any ideas what happened there?

This is from the article announcing the duals on NWCA's website. Looks like Iowa wanted a Saturday dual and Edinboro was the only one that could accommodate.

As far as the matchup goes, Edinboro had the opening for a Saturday dual and that’s what Iowa was looking for and our committee, with all the moving parts with scheduling, felt this was the best way to accommodate.” - See more at: http://www.nwcaonline.com/2017-nwca...hip-series-pairings-set/#sthash.JtY2eOHT.dpuf

The article didn't state that Edinboro was the only one who could accommodate the Hawks, only that they "had the opening for a Saturday dual." However, I think all the other teams also had open dates that Saturday.

IMO, the NWCA is hurting their credibility with explanations like this. Sometimes the less said the better.

In all honesty, who cares who we wrestle in this National Duals fiasco? IMO, Edinboro or App St. doesn't matter. We had a brutal dual schedule. Wrestling a lower tier program is a good thing. Less likelihood of getting physically hurt or losing a close match individually and hurting your seed. Can rest some of our guys that are banged up without concern for losing the dual. Nothing to gain wrestling NC St or VT. Let the other teams risk getting injured or hurting their seeds.

Who cares? Lets get ready for BTs and Nationals.

As a fan who likes to watch great wrestling, I care.

FIFY

Iowa has wrestled more top 6 teams than any of the other top 10 teams in the country. This weekend will even the schedules up a bit.
Irrelevant. I like to watch top wrestling. Not saying Iowa hasn't had top matchups. Doesn't mean as a fan I don't want to see more.

The other side of the coin is, would Iowa get rusty from inactivity and could Iowa develop some more before B10's with a solid match up yet? I'm not real big on "so we don't get hurt".

Kinda like how Stoll was going "develop" by wrestling Gwiz?

Kind of like if Cory wasn't working hard in practice, his shoulder wouldn't be messed up. It works all kinds of ways. Steel sharpens steel. To get tough, you have to wrestle tough matches. There is always risk for the reward.

Agree to disagree. The timing is even worse than the logistics for this event... And that's really saying something.

I think I've said it before, the dual schedule after Midlands was brutal...away at Michigan/MSU, away at OSU, PSU at home, tOSU(H)/Minne(A),Indiana(A)/Nebby(H)...home and aways two successive weekends both having tough teams each weekend. Schedule Gods revenge from last year.

So you "fans" who feel entitled to certain matches have to remember it's not just about showing up and wrestling a match; it's about logistically getting there, cutting weight, sleep, keeping the grades up, staying mentally focused and trying to recover.
