I think he is definitely spot on that Trump’s lawyers are playing the public and senate as fools. They know that the average person doesn’t have time to pay attention so they are providing weak talking points that they know don’t hold up to scrutiny but know it won’t matter.

Rs aren't even trying to claim that Trump didn't do it. They aren't claiming that there was no call, no quid pro quo, no illegal with holding of aid, or even that Trump wasn't trying to use Ukraine to go after Biden.

All the Rs are arguing is the process of how we got here. That's it.
