Arrests of the Traitors coming in now

Man... the excuses are really flying as every one being identified attempts to distance themselves from the illegal activities.

"I was just protecting myself"
"I removed the stationary from Pelosi's office because it had blood on it".
"I was trying to maintain calm with the other protesters".
"I was only there to maintain election security".
"I had no intention of harming anyone".

And on and on.

I have my doubts that every person knew this would turn violent. But everyone knows the "mob mentality" when large groups gather.

I was there to meet Mike Pence. I'm a big fan.

AFA graduates some of the biggest wackos around.
This might explain a little about why some military personnel supported Turd. The dead broad was also military.

Of course... Trump pardoning the guy that murdered all the Iraqi kids/civilians might have got him a few votes, too.

You only feel this way bc you’d like to kill those that disagree with you. Glad you folks on the left have finally come around to believing in our constitution.
"You folks on the left"? You realize...do you not - that you are getting the perspective of one person there...right? Are we to assume that "you folks on the right" are ok with a riotous assault on the Capitol? There is a far larger sample size to support it.

What they expected is immaterial...the act of storming the Capitol is sufficient.

I imagine this was psychologically like being in a cult for some of these people. Rude awakening, but, oh well

You arguments are always silly. Good grief.
No kidding armed terrorists stormed the Capitol. They had zip ties and were looking for the VP and Speaker to subvert the Electoral College. Some heated opinions on charges should be normal.

If you were in the building you go to jail. Term depending on what can be proven you were doing.

10 years just for setting foot inside the capitol (and perhaps even inside the barricaded zone).

Then additional charges on top of that if they can prove other crimes.

I wonder what sentence would be handed down to someone if they stormed the White House; this should be identical. I’ll say it again, the 2nd and 3rd people in line for the presidency were mere yards away from the domestic terrorists. This isn’t simple trespassing—severe punishment will serve as a deterrent.

Presuming most of that is the heat of the moment. I think prison is the right call here.

I do think it’s absurd police/security didn’t use MUCH more aggressive tactics in the moment, though. Rubber bullets, tear gas, bean bag guns, tasers, etc. It is sickening our well-funded law enforcement apparatus failed utterly to protect our Capitol.
100% agree. Solid, rational take.

If you're referencing the riots last summer and trying to compare the bad actors in these two events... it's an apples to oranges comparison. But you already know that.

The domestic terrorists that invaded the Capitol are getting exactly what they deserve. Elected lawmakers that encouraged their actions should either resign or be removed. This week's attack ranks right there with 9-11.
No it doesn’t. You can’t compare storming the capital to terrorists killing thousands. Sorry but this is a FAIL.

One can disagree entirely with this act, recommend swift punishment for all and ask for a return to civility. But these calls to make it equal to this or that or call for executions is just over the top and opportunistic.

What context is missing? Why don't you believe the rioters were traitors of the US?
The context of punishment meet the crime. You do know that there are various ways to commit treason right? I think some acts would be worthy of this punishment. This one is not. The fact some seem unable to grasp this is telling.

Treason is not worthy of severe punishment? GTFO.

What were the zip ties for? That intention screams at the very least hostage taking. No not everyone had that intention I'm sure. But they were there. And their actions lead to the opportunity of hostage taking.

Joe specifically said it was one of the punishments for traitors. He didn't say all the rioters deserved that punishment. Personally I'm against the death penalty so hanging would be out for me, but I do believe these people need severe punishment. I want others to stop and think before they take part in any attempt to overturn our democracy.
