As bad as it is, Still a shot at a shared title

Iowa beats IU and Michigan and Maryland beast IU. Could happen. Could end up with a 5 way tie with 5 co-champs. But not going to happen if we don't step it up starting Tuesday.

Dream on. We will lose out. Iowa is the worst team in the big 10 right now.

I said the exact thing after this game. How do we go from the best team in the B1G to one of the worst in a matter of about 5 games?

Iowa will beat Indiana, and Indiana will lose to Maryland. Indiana, Maryland, Michigan State and Wisconsin will share the title, but Iowa won't, because they will promptly lose to Michigan, just to spite all the fans. While everybody else is working really hard to get a share of the title, Iowa works extra hard for others but themselves to share it. It's a tough task, since they still need to beat Indiana, but I think they are up to it.

I'm not a betting man (I hate to lose money) but if I was, I would certainly not bet on Iowa beating Indiana right now.

A co-Big Ten championship means nothing to me at this point. 4-5 teams tying for first doesn't really do anything for me.

This Iowa team has disappointed enough fans, they dare not disappoint even more fans from Maryland, Wisconsin, and Michigan State.;)

Iowa State won a co-Big 12 North Division title in football several years back (2004 I believe). They along with other teams tied at 4-4 in the conference and the DM Register printed a Big 12 North Division Title page in the newspaper.

It was probably one of the most pathetic things I've ever seen.

Yeah, but years from now Iowa would be mentioned simply as B1G Champion in 2016 and fans would feel all warm and fuzzy. Well, except for those of us who remembered this carnage.

Particularly with only 1 days rest.

You know . . . given how well that week off helped us, maybe a quick turnaround will be a good thing? Then again, it's hard to imagine anything helping this team.

Like the sham title in football 2004. At least in 2002 we didn't have to suffer losing to OSU and can claim we did all we could.

This is a very good question.

My thoughts are that this is a slightly better than average coaching staff with a roster that does not have a surplus of B1G talent. I think the team hit "lightning in a bottle" for a while but now is playing closer to the over all talent level.

You all who are saying Iowa is the worst team in the Big 10 are morons. We are better than Rutgers.

This exactly. I think we beat Ind & lose to Mich.

Are you sure? We struggled with them several weeks ago and have continued to play worse every game since then. Rutgers might not beat Iowa, but I am pretty sure that NW, Illinois and Minn would all get us now. I don't think there is a "safe" opponent in the B1G tourney right now.

We will likely lose the next 4 unless we get a good matchup in the NCAA. Good would be defined as a team that plays as weak as this Hawk team is playing right now.

This is a good reason to lose out. We don't want that kind of press.

A 9% chance according to Sagarin vs RPIforecast.com
