Unranked Memphis beat #2 UConn 99-97 in OT after an 18-5 UConn comeback in the final 3 minutes of regulation that included Memphis going the final 4 minutes of regulation without making a field goal.

In overtime, the Tigers edged it out — the difference being a technical foul on Huskies coach Dan Hurley after a controversial over-the-back foul called on Liam McNeeley that gave the Tigers four points on PJ Carter free throws with 40 seconds remaining that turned a 92-all game into a 96-92 Memphis lead.

UConn scrambled and got close but couldn't close out. Hassan Diarra missed a 3-pointer as time expired.

Matt Norlander also asked Hurley about his technical during the press conference. Here's his entire answer. He's pissed. Also, apparently an earlier UConn technical was on the team trainer.

If he had an issue with Memphis being physical, he had better hope they don't have to play ISU in the final round of the tournament, or he is going to need a safe room and a blankie. Thought I was watching Arena football with ISU and Auburn last night. ISU backcourt was in foul trouble in the first half and could have been out of the game if all of the contact was called. But hey, teams that have the reputation for playing 'tough' defense get that special lack of a whistle.

Michigan St & Purdue come to mind...

What I wouldn’t give to have a coach like Danny Hurley on the Iowa sideline.
You would have a moderately better version of basketball. UCONN is a well established blue blood - Iowa is not. It's easier to look good when you can get the 5 stars regularly. Fran can identify them with the best - but Iowa gets poached. UCONN does not. You would also have a coach that would make Fran look like a choir boy. Which we all know how well that goes over around here. Hurley is a non-stop ass on the sidelines. Izzo is even tame compared to him.

Colorado (5-1) beat #2 UConn (4-2) last night, 73-72.

Dan Hurley, once again, was fuming after the officials didn't call a foul on Colorado late in the game with UConn leading.

I agree with everyone that Hurley acts like a douche. The question is to how people think Fran’s behavior is significantly better. I mean, c’mon. If Fran coached for UCONN and you saw highlights 3-4 times a year of Fran completely losing his poop and having to be restrained by multiple coaches and players while flailing his arms and trying to get at a referee, y’all would be singing a different tune. And let’s not forget the time Fran called a timeout just so he could stand a few feet away from an official to stare him down—an act that had a parent (and former player) posting to social media that he had “No words.”

Just think about it a little.

That I am a fan of winning and think Hurley would actually be an improvement from the sideline antics we have seen the last decade and a half?
He more than likely would be way more successful, but the sideline antics would be intensified in my opinion.

He's a dick on the sidelines. Fran can be painful to watch when he has his temper tantrums but the few games I've seen Hurley on the sidelines he reminds me of Kim Mulkey.

I get it, there's a need for change. Has to be someone legit out there that can do what's needed at IOWA.

Yeah, it’s a moot point, anyway, because Hurley is never coming to Iowa.

Frankly, I think Izzo is way more obnoxious than Hurley, but perhaps that’s just me.

I remember early on in Fran's time at Iowa he would blow up at officials and fans were embarrassed by it resulting in reprimands by the AD at that time. Since then, Fran has tamed it down.
Yeah, Dan Hurley would be a great guy to have as a coach at Iowa.
Ha Ha Ha.

Hurley does everything Fran does, except he does it 5 times as often, and threatens fans with violence.

He wins more, so he gets away with it. We’d all be cool with it too, but if you think Fran goes off the handle even close to as often as Hurley…oof.

Yeah, Hurley goes WAY over the top

Then went on to overcome a 13 point deficit in 94 seconds against Izzo. Yeah, I remember.

The parent who then sent his son to play for that man? I’m guessing you took the tweet wrong from JR, but I’m just guessing.

The entire Hurley clan skipped the gracious and likable class. None of them give a rat's ass.

Win or be considered a great guy. 98% of the time you have to choose one. You can't have both.

I think there is some truth in this, but you do not have to be obnoxious like Hurley.
