Rep. Ashley Hinson has announced the endorsements of more than 550 grassroots supporters from all 22 counties of the new 2nd District that covers northeast Iowa, including Linn, Black Hawk, Cerro Gordo and Dubuque counties.

Ashley’s Army will continue to serve as the Marion Republican’s volunteer operation, building on the grassroots network that was critical to her 2020 victory.

“Our volunteers are the heartbeat of Team Hinson and I am absolutely blown away by this team of over 550 grassroots leaders who will help spread our message in all 22 counties of our district,” said Hinson, who is seeking a second term in the U.S. House.

MUHLBAUER ENDORSES FRANKEN: Dave Muhlbauer, a Democrat who ran in Iowa’s U.S. Senate campaign last year before dropping out, has endorsed Mike Franken in the Democratic primary.

Franken, a U.S. Navy veteran from Sioux City, is one of three Democrats running in the primary. The others are former U.S. Rep. Abby Finkenauer of Cedar Rapids and Minden physician Glenn Hurst.

The Republican incumbent is longtime U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley, who faces a primary challenge from Sioux City attorney and state legislator Jim Carlin.

“Mike Franken is just the leader we need in Iowa. He will help Iowa shine once again as a beacon in our nation and globally,” Muhlbauer, a farmer and former Crawford County supervisor, said in a news release from the Franken campaign. “As we all get to know Mike Franken better you will see that he is a man with great integrity, determination, and true grit. Franken grew up a tough Iowa farm kid who excelled to become a Navy admiral. He knows Iowa while at the same time has the experience to understand our current world events.”

FRANKEN AD UP: Mike Franken’s first ad is up in Iowa’s U.S. Senate campaign. The 60-second ad, titled “Lifetime,” will air this week in the Des Moines and Cedar Rapids markets, as well as on cable TV. And a digital version will stream on myriad social and internet platforms, the campaign said.

“The past few years have shown us that we can’t take our freedoms for granted,” Franken says in the ad. “We need to stand up and fight.”

Actually seen a couple of the Frankenstein ads here locally….they are pretty good. If he wins in June, it might be an interesting Fall election for US Senate. He will be the dog but he will have a puncher’s chance come November.
