The seeding question is interesting. If he gets the 2, I pray Max gets the 7. He didn’t look good at all at B10s. No mobility in those knees. It’s not everyone that can compete at the highest level with torn ACLs. 😉I wonder where they seed Gomez and if he is even going to be good to go by next week.
Unless he improves considerably, I’m not sure it makes any sense to even try and wrestle. The seeding question is interesting. If he gets the 2, I pray Max gets the 7. I’m not seeing it. He was obviously in a lot of pain and noticeably hobbling. He didn’t have his normal swagger and there was no pop in his offense on his feet. Kids tough as nails, and I’m sure he could will himself to a win in a big dual, but a 3-day tournament against the best in the country? May be a bridge too far. It’s too bad, he’s good for the sport, very fun to watch him vs Sasso and Andonian last year.Unless he improves considerably, I’m not sure it makes any sense to even try and wrestle.

There is absolutely no way he gets the 2 seed after going 0-2 and no placing at conference. The seeding question is interesting. If he gets the 2, I pray Max gets the 7. It's his last chance, why not lay it all out there? Not like he has next season to get ready for.I’m not seeing it. He was obviously in a lot of pain and noticeably hobbling. I would be ok with the 10 for Gomez and the 7 for Max. Gomez will struggle to win 1 match at NCAAs. Bummer for him. Reminds me of Jayden last year. There is absolutely no way he gets the 2 seed after going 0-2 and no placing at conference.
Im guessing the at large bids would need to be accepted. Did Wisky accept already? He just did not look like he was able to wrestle in a couple of weeks after that last match. Its too bad, he is fun to watch, well except when he is wrestling Turk. Wasnt this similar to Suriano deal his freshman year and then was unable to go even a minute in his first match?I’m not seeing it. He was obviously in a lot of pain and noticeably hobbling. Looks like 15 Iowa kids got in if my count is right157 UNI Derek Holschlag
I think he walked out on the mat they blew the whistle and blew it again end of match. I think this happened to Telford in Des Moines. I could have the wrong guy, maybe Stoll?Im guessing the at large bids would need to be accepted. Did Wisky accept already? McDonough probably shouldn’t have wrestled in the blood round in Des Moines his senior year. It’s one of the toughest matches I’ve ever watched. These guys are warriors and if they think there is even a remote chance they can win, they will be on the mat, especially if this is the end of the road.Unless he improves considerably, I’m not sure it makes any sense to even try and wrestle.
Watching that, Kem Dawg’s battle at ncaa last year, and Dan Dennis in the finals. My three least favorite memories the past 10 years as a Hawkeye fan. I could not have felt worse for either of them.McDonough probably shouldn’t have wrestled in the blood round in Des Moines his senior year. It’s one of the toughest matches I’ve ever watched. The worst part was the NDSU fans going crazy thinking that Sprenkle beat a healthy McDMcDonough probably shouldn’t have wrestled in the blood round in Des Moines his senior year. I understand that, the conversation is whether he should even enter and compete at NCAA's.Perhaps your confused. He’s not dogging it, he has a serious injury.
Why not? Because his body is messed up and competing isn’t going have a high reward/risk factored in.It's his last chance, why not lay it all out there? Not like he has next season to get ready for.
It’s disappointing… tbh, Gomez was easily a highlight of last year’s tourney. Dude was a must watch, he had some FUN matches to break up the 3-2 snoozers.I’m not seeing it. He was obviously in a lot of pain and noticeably hobbling. He didn’t have his normal swagger and there was no pop in his offense on his feet. Doesn't matter. He's shown he's willing to risk anything to continue competing, zero shot he bows out because of a bad leg.Why not? Because his body is messed up and competing isn’t going have a high reward/risk factored in.
