The year 2020 has brought us more questions than answers, but Iowa heads into Week 12, Week 5 in the Big Ten, a trip to Happy Valley to face Penn State and seventh year head coach James Franklin.
So, if the list above is right, both coaches are now tied at 49 over the course of games. Kirk Ferentz has never beat a Franklin coached Nittany Lions team. The games have become more competitive, but the Nittany Lions have won.
I began watching Iowa Football during Bob Commings first season in 1974. It wasn't until Commings third season in 1976, when Iowa finally pulled off their first win. The game was in Happy Valley. Iowa is one, if not the only team, who had three coaches who all beat Joe Paterno, in Happy Valley, Hayden Fry in 1983 and Kirk Ferentz, first in 2000.
What a special game by WR Ronnie Harmon, who obviously became a special RB his final two seasons in Black & Gold.
Twenty years ago, Kirk Ferentz won his first visit to Happy Valley, as an assistant and as a head coach. Now, can Iowa get it done in Year 22, year 31 on the sidelines at Iowa?
The Hawkeyes have their work cut out for them in between two short weeks of Friday games in 2020.
