I have a ton of stuff to sell, many many antiques, dolls, nice quality old wooden furniture, artwork, depression glassware, figurines, and lots of other older and new collectible stuff. I was thinking about an estate sale, but I'd like to not have much if anything left over if possible.

All the stuff is in Newton, Iowa. I've been told Van Metre out of Marshalltown is great for this, but I was wondering if Des Moines wouldn't be a better route to go because of its population base. I thought about just doing the auction on the property, but I don't think there's enough yard space for all this stuff. Newton is probably not the best place to have a sale, so I guess I'd be willing to haul it myself or have them come and get it.

Anyone advice from antiquers or people with experience with this would be very much appreciated!

Why don't you try to get the clowns from LeClaire to come out. I'm sure it's like a 3 year waiting list and they will severely underbid your items, but what the hell.

I actually thought about that, and I know they'd have a hayday, but I just want to sell it all and be done with it if possible. I have a house to sell as well and I'd like to get done as quickly as possible, but I have to get the stuff out first.

Also, I'll be underbid with an auction too, and then the auction house will get a cut on top of that.
