This is a good read. Very cool that it worked out for him.

Fran always seems to do right with the walk-ons. Coaching them up to a level where they can play at a low-major and then working the phones to find them a right spot. Michael Baer, Austin Ash, and Riley Till. There's probably one or 2 others that I'm not thinking of.
I'd love if Kingsbury or Nimmers were good enough to make the rotation here--but for those guys it's got to be comforting knowing that Fran will fight for them to land on their feet if they don't.

His stat line this year is a big middle finger to everyone who was butt hurt that he got a scholarship at iowa. Good for him.
How is that? Everyone on this board complains about Iowa's defense, and he was by far one of the worst defenders on the team. It may actually be a big finger to people like you who have no idea what they are talking about.

The dude was loved in the locker room and a body on the practice squad. Not all contributions are on a stat line. Kindly get ****ed.

i know Austin very well. He absolutely loves Iowa and it was a dream come true to be on the team. He is a very smart player, much like Connor, so his defense would have been better than many others on the team because he would be in the right spot. He was a late bloomer, physically, and would not have been able to play a minute of prime time his first 3 seasons. He was going to go elsewhere his 4th year, but Fran thought he may be able to play at Iowa and offered him the scholly.. However, Bohannon decided to come back, and since they were similar type players, Austin got blocked out of his one chance to possibly get some meaningful minutes at Iowa. Maybe he wouldn't have been ready last year, but looks like he would have served as a shooter this year. If you have watched him play this year, he has a very quick release shooting and gets a lot of boards for a guard. Good kid, still tight with all the Iowa players and good friends with Garza.

Did he have any animosity towards Bohannon for coming back?

He is good friends with Bohannon, just a bad break for him. Playing time was never guaranteed for him and he loved being a Hawk. Enjoying his year at the Citadel and things worked out well for him...found the perfect spot to end his college career!
