I was just curious - With the "Prospect" of Justin Mejia coming to Iowa City now gone, who (other than Brody Teske) is Iowa looking at for the 133 pound slot? Some posters have said they think Teske would be a career 125-pounder... Would Spencer Lee move up to 133?

I was curious if they have given any consideration to Austin DeSanto? I know he is committed to Drexel but maybe he would flip his committment for a chance to wrestle at Iowa... I hear Teasdale and RBY's names thrown around a lot but I really don't see either of them coming especially with Suriano leaving PSU....

Could you imagine Lee at 125 and DeSanto at 133.... WOW

DeSanto is going to Drexel because it is close to home and can commute. He is functionally autistic so it helps to have a support system around.

You can't recruit a kid who has signed with someone else. Also he's not a high D1 kid.

S32 champ. He stinks.
Straw man. Who said he stinks? No one. He is a very good high school wrestler and probably getting a good amount of money at Drexel which is great. He might have a very solid D1 career and be a 2-3x NCAA qualifier and 1/2x AA. All that is great.

He does not have many top notch wins to think he'd be a high level D1 wrestler. What are his best wins? I don't count Spencer (obviously) and the Dapper Dan has shown time and time again to give a huge advantage to the PA wrestlers, so I discount that one big time as well. Especially with an opponent coming from the west coast.

He's also beaten Alex thomsen and jacori teemer which are some high level wins also idk why the mejia match would be discredited, he absolutely dominated him. He also had two close matches with joey Silva.

If Meija was a take , you would think Desanto would be. Kid will do very well in college.

He would absolutely thrive in the room. He would be a multiple time NC in our room and I think he will be a 3-4x AA and contend for a NC at Drexel.

He is a high functioning Autistic kid. I think that autism, while difficult, has been beneficial to him in the sport. He has an ability to completely focus on one thing and that is being a great wrestling. He's a goer, I mean he just continously goes. He would absolutely thrive getting great coaching and great partners, which I don't believe he's ever had before. He is the mold of that "I live a clean life who gets straight A's and works harder than anyone" kid that we all claim to want. To dismiss him how some of you are is ridiculous.

His parents believe he needs a support structure centered on family to thrive. So this is all a moot point.

Interesting. That's a whopper of a daily commute for a college athlete, especially when you take Philly traffic into account.

Don't they have trains or something in Philly? Heard this from somebody credible on your board back during state(s)

No one is "dismissing" him. Get over yourself.

I'll take any elite 133 recruit. I have a bald spot scratching my head to why the best light weight room in the country that has had a representive in the finals of 133 7 out of the last 10 years can't seem to get this done.

I guess they were probably just late to the party on a lot of the 133 guys in the 2018 class, once Teasdale de-committed.

No viable rail options that I'm aware of that would make sense. Back in the day there was the Reading Railroad but that ceased in the 70s. I see a bus option but the timetable is limited it's > 2 hours each way.

I just don't like that we are going to holes in our lineup. Obviously the state of Iowa is not producing many kids capable of being AA's. I like that we are leaving the state but I think we need to leave it even more.

Next year, only Wilcke will be a projected "from Iowa" starter unless Happel gets the nod at 41.

There is nothing's finer than being in your diner.

PS. Strong recovery, fellas. I was a bit concerned when we let stuff slip yesterday with the whole "he can do what he was going to do at UNI back at UNI" but I can see we are rounding into shape.

Please keep in mind that your assertion is based on your opinion, as are others. No one on this day knows how Austin Desanto's career will end up. As ridiculous as that may appear this day. Death and Taxes, Sun rising in the East, those are things we know for certain. For whatever it is worth, I would love to have him as well.
