by the ISU coaches. Punked the Okie team with a two pass out-of-bounds play in which the ISU player was illegally touched out of bounds and subsequently called for a technical.

The way I understood the play by play announcer is that the technical was called because the Oklahoma player touched the ball, not the player.

Could be wrong but I think he was being sarcastic towards the ledge jumping ISU fans who were losing their sh!t after the 1-3 start
Ok then that's cool. I may be a bit paranoid as a result of some recent interactions. Besides the crackheads on the CF message board I haven't seen too much criticism toward Prohm though.

Not sure I get that rule... Say I bring one player over the baseline and try to get another right up next to him, but in bounds - then I try to throw the ball to the inbound player, but if the D touches it I can just plead that I was throwing to the out-of-bounds player and it's a T?

Can the original guy still inbound it or does he HAVE to pass it to the second baseline guy?

My guess is that the ball has to be above the in bounds portion of the court. But if so, bad rule for the reason you cite.

Franny has dialed up this play at least a half dozen times. Did it a few with Gatens and at least once last year with AW.

Last night it was the right situation and the right call by Prohm. Nice that he had his little meeting and announced he will finally start to coach his team. If the players will listen I think he can make them better.

ball, player, doesn't matter. The guy is out of bounds attempting to in-bound. All you can do is jump around. Can't touch him or the ball.

My understanding is the technical is called when ball is still in possession of player throwing inbounds. Since the second player had caught the ball and was holding when ball touched it was technical. If ball was in-flight and defensive player touched it, it would not be technical. Original guy can pass to who he wants but the 5 second rule still applies to get inbounds. Your question doesn't make it clear who is holding ball.

Saw this play all the time in the Tom Davis era. Not something radical called by Prohm or Fran. Didn't see last night but I assume ISU simply did this to help get the ball inbounds and never guessed OU would end up with a technical out of it

I think you are right. They practice this as an option when they aren't guarding the guy inbounding the ball. Typically the pass is made out-of-bounds and the original guy steps inbounds and is open to receive the pass. The fact the technical was called was a bonus.
