Yes, if he has the ability to teach that aspect of the game,... But shooting isn't usually a "taught" talent.
Just thinking in terms of what Speraw was a specialist at. Not teaching it but fixing flaws when a player's shot is off.

Lansing has Iowa ties having been born in Iowa and having coached in Iowa at both the HS and college level.
Just thinking that if Gatens already has been hired as some are claiming that Lansing might not offer the geographic diversity that could benefit the staff more.

My wild guess is that Gatens has already been hired per poster reports on here.....and I think he will be a good assistance coach. That said, Lansing has to have some good ties in Indiana after having been there for that many years....that couldn't hurt.

His recruiting is all over the place. Not sure he would add as much as a good assistant might, plus he's going to want to move on at some point, sooner than later. I trust McC to make the right choice and if that's Lansing, so be it.

**** man, you got me. I guessed wrong. Nooooooooooo! How could this be?

Not a big follower of HS basketball. Had to tap into some long term memory and the older you get the longer the long term becomes. Take a moment and enjoy your win. I'm sure we'll meet again.
Not a big follower then maybe you should just keep your mouth shut. Jesus Christ.

Here's a thought I will "maybe ...just keep [my] mouth shut" when you overcome what appears to be a terminal case of dick slam. I'm not very religious, or really at all, but I think Jesus Christ would say something more like Ephesians 4:32: "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you."

There's a lot of symbolism in screen names. One word in yours speaks volumes about its author. Ephesians 4:32, think about it.

Except he is a tie to the Alford staff, right? I hate to damn a coach for that. He was supposedly known for defense, but Indiana State finished 246th in defensive efficiency last year. To put that in perspective, Iowa finished at 141st.
Lansing shouldn't be damned for Alford. He kind of kept the ship together, limiting transfers, monitoring eligibility kind of things the Head Coach should do. Are we down to just one open coaching position?

I just want the Hawks to bring in the best available talent … Hawkeye ties or not…
I don't disagree, I saw where the job recruiting sites had a lot of people interested in the position. Some posters have said, Gatens is the guy. I think Matt would be good, just hope Fran takes his time and Vets all applicants to develop a short list to interview.

One would think a nice variety of applicants to look at … Cheers!

Sorry Mr. Hate, it doesn't work that way. You right like a grade schooler. Are you an actual adult? I read some of your other posts that are pretty much the same as your to me, just name calling, insulting and insinuating those with whom you disagree are stupid.

Again, kind of like a personality disordered junior high student, judging from language, grammar and content; and very very angry. You don't have access to firearms do you?

I like the hire. Fran probably knew which way he would go but wanted to go through the hiring process. Can not fault him for taking his time. Iowa kid, who loves the black and gold. I also think he will be a tireless worker, knows what Fran expects. Welcome home MG.
