I'm sorry...but the BIG 10 should have taken on this NIL process and come up with not only school specific program guidelines but some sort program that is conference oriented, that all programs can share money. You don't think getting 3-4 athletes per school to do ads promoting the conference would generate cash for players or to be shared with the entire team?
Let's say Iowa develops a great DE...Ohio State has a need at DE to round out their defense in 2023. Hey...Iowa DE...transfer and make $1,000,000 for your junior season. (see Lukas Van Ness). It's just messed up.
Honestly...I'd like a no poaching rule or something...so the conference doesn't eat itself. If you haven't seen the Kelvin Bell podcast/interview...you should watch it. He's honest about the portal and how it works. It's free agency pure and simple. You have no shot at a big time transfer, unless it's NIL money.
I love college football...and for the first time...I think a lack of leadership at every level (NCAA, Chancellors, Commissioners, ADs, and coaches) has potentially ruined a great sport. It didn't have to be the wild west...it could have been done and rolled out so it didn't just benefit the rich programs, corrupt programs, and the leeches who cheat to win. Opportunity lost.
