I'm sure it will be tough as nails again. But, has anyone here figured out the names of the guys that will not be back - either because they are Seniors or likely to go pro?

We truly wont get a sense of how good the league is overall until the declaration and withdraw deadlines have passed.

Except Wisconsin, who will assuredly have several goons wearing t-shirts under their unis that will constantly piss us off, hit well-guarded 3's with 2 seconds on the shot clock, and commit an average of two total team fouls per half.

Here's a tracker of the players who have officially declared, of course, at this time it's rather short. There's two players in my mind who seem to be as good as gone: Fernandez from Maryland and Langford from Indiana. Other than that, I'm not sure who else is really a sure-fire first round pick, but you've got a bunch of star players in this league who could really go either way... and in many cases might not see their stock rise much more.

I think it's important to remember that any guys drafted below the lottery tend to, more often than not, be a long term project for NBA teams and will be role players. There's absolutely nothing they can do to ever become a star player in the NBA. Being a 21 year old project/role player is better than being a 22 year old project/role player.

Here's my list of those guys:
Cook (Iowa), Winston (MSU), Ward (MSU), Edwards (Pur), Cowan (Maryland), Coffey (Minn.)

You could probably add a few more to that list. Those are the juniors that I see at this point who are, to varying degrees, in that in-between-land between coming back and going pro, and whatever they decide to do will have a huge impact on how good all of those teams will be.

Nick Ward supposedly has had enough of college ball. Sounds like he's off to Europe.

I think it’s safe to assume (from an outside perspective) MSU will reload and be a top 3 B1G next year, regardless of who leaves or graduates.

Minnesota loses Murphy. NW loses Law. You have to wonder about Fernando & Langford. Maybe Wesson also.

is there a good chance that cook test the nba waters again like last year. hes not out any thing

Illinois is likely to make a big step forward, both adding a year last years class, and the dang good class they signed this year.

Minnesota and NW are taking some hits, especially if Coffey goes. Nebby loses Watson and Palmer.

Charles Matthews is assumed to be leaving Michigan after this season despite being a relative long shot to get a 1st round draft slot.

Ward will be leaving but Winston isn’t going anywhere

There aren’t many sites with 2020 projections but here’s one from Bart Torvik. His rankings don’t align completely with Kenpom but besides Penn St the order is similar. He’s accounted for some early departures like Langford but still projects players like Edwards and Brazdeikis to return.

1. Michigan
3. Mich St
6. Purdue
12. Wisconsin
20. Penn St
24. Iowa
25. Ohio St
26. Maryland
30. Illinois
45. Minny
56. Rutgers
65. IU
99. Neb
145. NW

He has WISCONSIN at 12. Curious how he came up with that. With Happ leaving how do they score. They couldn’t even with him.

If you go to the link and click on the teams you’ll see the projected stats for their players. Some of his individual projections are weird truthfully. He has Pritzl averaging near 13 next year. He has Justin Smith leading IU in scoring next year and I’m not sure Smith’s mother would expect that. He doesn’t have any freshmen averaging double figures. The list goes on.

More like 99.9% chance.

Sounds like Wieskamp might too just for the evaluation.
Can you send me the information you are getting that Wieskamp is going to test the waters. JMO he's not ready and this is only a small troll. Why not throw in everyone on Iowa's starting team?

Yes but Nebraska is going to winning the B1G since the Mayor is going to be the next coach?? Just like in FOOTBALL:eek:

They’ll suck again.

No matter the talent on the floor, Underwood’s defense is a joke at this level. They can’t stop anyone from scoring. His kid getting minutes over players like Tevian Jones? Hahaha. Another joke. I wouldn’t be surprised if they have mass transfers like last year. I think that staff is in way over their heads.

They did sign a couple of good bigs but if you’re relying on freshman bigs to boost your team, you’re screwed.

Why would I troll about that? One of the beat writers speculated on it the other day.

Of course he’s not ready. But the free advice is worth it.

I’ve heard Maryland is gonna be loaded if no one declares.

Everyone else will hold suit I think. MSU/MICH/OSU/MD will all contend for the title. They don’t restock, they reload with talented freshman or transfers. Those teams are the cream of the crop or blue bloods of the big ten.

The next level will be the following teams. IA/PU/Minn/Rutgers/Wi all contend for the 5-9 spots. Teams that will return a solid core, but also have some “key” losses. I think anyone of these teams could upset the top 4 on a given night, sadly they could also lose to a botttom feeder as well.

After that it’s a crap shoot. NE/PSU/Ill/IU/NW

I agree. I think Underwood will deal with managing egos and immaturity from his players.
