Love it. The higher seeds have more of an advantage. And I got sick of the 9 am starts. Sure, a lot of the winners will end up being pretty random but that’s just how a baseball tournament is. I don’t find anything romantic about the double elimination format and I’ve long thought that some of the confusion casual fans have around the postseason discourages people from being more engaged in following it. I didn’t find anything cool about starting pitcher in the final who hasnt pitched since an April midweek game.

I wouldn’t mind seeing regionals do the same thing and having pool play and a single game final (highest seed at home).

I like the new format, better chance of the best team winning when your starting pitchers line up better. And still enough tough decision making based on your opening game result and run differential, and if you want to save someone for game 2 or risk holding them until game 3 should you make it. Then likely number one starter would have a chance to pitch at least some in the title game on either three or four days rest (presuming some teams first game is on Tuesday and some on Wednesday).

Have you seen any source say that run differential would be the tiebreaker?

The ACC uses the highest seed as a tiebreaker, which only comes into effect if the three teams all go 1-1. And they schedule the highest seeded team (1-4) and the second highest seeded team (5-8) in the last game of pool play to minimize the potential of a total dead rubber game, as the higher seeded teams may still have an at-large at stake.
