Sounds like Bateman wants to come back and play for Minnesota despite signing with an agent. Some other guys who previously withdrew to prep for the draft might also want back in? Sounds like they will need NCAA clearance to do so. What do people think about giving them another chance since 2020 has been so weird?

Rondale Moore is on campus completping degree in 2.5 years, has not signed with an agent and is considering returning to Boilermaker team.

If they simply opted out, thinking games would be played in January, then I have no problem letting them play
Those who signed with agent will probably requirereview to determine if$$ exchanged but if they get back to amateur status, let em play

If it benefits Iowa's efforts towards winning a national championship then I say to these players...........................

If they didn't sign with an agent, sure.
There will be a blanket waiver to those who have signed with an agent, Bateman will be eligible and deservedly so. He has asthma. The conference didn’t have daily rapid antigen testing when he opted out. They do now. The NCAA already granted a waiver to the punter Turk at ASU who entered the draft and hired an agent. Wasn’t drafted because he couldn’t work out due to Covid.

If you simply opted out. You should get to opt back in. If you signed with an agent but no money was exchanged you should be able to play. If you signed with an agent and money was exchanged the money would have to be paid back before you could opt back in.

Furthermore going forward we need to make it where if a player doesn't get an agent they can declare for the draft and go back if it doesn't turn out like they thought it would. Give the kid options. NFL probably won't like it. Takes away the sweetheart deal they got now. Take a flyer on a late round guy with no other options

HEHATEME

Obviously, since they're going to try to do this, any kid who wants to play should be allowed to play. Period. That's only fair.

What does asthma have to do with anything? He stopped playing school because he has asthma?

His decision just became a lot more interesting! Sounds like he has stayed enrolled and never signed with an agent so one would think it would essentially be up to him if he plays or not.

I don’t see why he wouldn’t be allowed. He basically just took a hiatus from football and continued being a student. Even if he left school then rejoined I’d be fine with it. Had he signed with an agent then I would say no.

I'm sure the argument is that because of the asthma he was at high risk with covid 19 being a respiratory disease. Opted out of playing in college with no real structure provided as to testing or protection, with the little info the league was putting out. He goes in the draft and has more structure, testing and support once he's drafted. Certainly he would have a strong case if anyone would.

so could he still get covid 19 or now is everything going to be just fine? Why would you not still think you are at risk then?

If he opted out of fball he should be allowed to play. Not if he dropped out of school though....imo

Then what do the schools do about scholarships? They assume that player is gone then he doesnt get drafted and cant come back unless they screw another player out of a scholarship?

What do they do with Basketball? The universities would have to figure out a way to maneuver in this. There is a way. If they would have stayed there would be 1 less scholarship anyways

NCAA set precedent for some of this back in 2004 with Mike Williams. Will be interesting to see how they proceed

Since when are you for fairness? Everyone is gonna die and it should not be allowed to be a personal individual choice.
