East
1. Penn St (3-0, Villanova) - Penn State came away with a good win in their whiteout against the Tigers. The defense played well and the offense did enough. This is Iowa's toughest game left on the schedule.
2. Ohio State (2-1, Akron) - The game against Tulsa was close much longer than we anticipated, but they pulled away in the 2nd half on 323 yards on the ground. The Buckeyes gave up over 400 passing yards against a poor team. There are clear issues on the defensive side.
3. Michigan (3-0, Rutgers) - Michigan dismantled a poor Northern Illinois team, and there isn't really much to take away from it other than the Wolverines didn't fall into the trap. Much like OSU, they controlled the game on the ground, and only threw 17 passes.
4. Michigan State (3-0, Nebraska) - Wow. I didn't see Michigan State beating Miami like this. Mel Tucker's team seems to be firing on all cylinders, and they have a very good chance at starting the season 4-0, and being a real threat in the East.
5. Maryland (3-0, Kent State) - Maryland came away with their first B1G win of the season, beating a poor Illinois team on Friday night. The game wasn't very inspiring for either side, but a win is a win for the Terps.
6. Indiana (1-2, @ Western Kentucky) - This game was close for the majority of the game, but things got away from the Hoosiers in the second half. Penix made the same poor decisions he made against the Hawks. The defense is legit, but the offense looks anemic.
7. Rutgers (3-0, @ Michigan) - Not often you'll see a 3-0 team at the bottom of the power rankings. They beat a poor Delaware team like they should've, but I still don't believe that this team is any good.

West
1. Iowa (3-0, Colorado St.) - We all know the story of the Hawks. The defense was fairly good like usual, and the run game took a step forward like it should've. Petras still remains a question mark. One more tune-up game before the real season begins.
2. Wisconsin (1-1, Notre Dame) - Wisconsin was off this week, so there isn't much to say. They have a neutral site game agains Notre Dame, entering as 6.5 point favorites.
3. Minnesota (2-1, Bowling Green) - Minnesota picked up a very impressive win at Colorado this weekend, despite missing Mo. Backup Potts rushed for over 150 yards, and the team gained 277 on the ground. Maybe the boat is starting to gain some steam.
4. Purdue (2-1, Illinois) - Purdue didn't pull off the win against Notre Dame, but they played a good game and kept it close throughout. They did potentially lose David Bell, which would be an even bigger loss than the game.
5. Nebraska (1-2, @ Michigan State) - Much like Purdue, Nebraska didn't pull off the stunner against Oklahoma, but they kept it close and respectable. Close losses aren't going to be enough to save Scott Frosts' job, but there is no doubt they are a better team than 6 and 7 in the West, and will likely win a game they shouldn't along the way.
6. Northwestern (1-2, Ohio) - Wow. Northwestern lost to their fellow nerds, and former 5* Clemson transfer Hunter Johnson was pulled from the game after throwing 3 INTs early in the game. The Wildcats D gave up over 550 yards to a team that isn't exactly known for football.
7. Illinois (1-3, @ Purdue) - The more I think about it, the more dumbfounded I am that this team beat Nebraska. They played a competitive game against the Terps, but didn't close it out.

Overall
1. Iowa
2. Penn St
3. Ohio St
4. Michigan
5. Michigan St +5
6. Wisconsin -1
7. Minnesota
8. Maryland -2
9. Purdue -1
10. Nebraska +2
11. Indiana -2
12. Rutgers -1
13. Northwestern
14. Illinois
