What a miserable night to be in attendance.

I think ISU played well and I’ll give them credit for earning the win.

I also think the Hawks played horribly and this goes for the Murray twins especially. It was honestly hard to watch Keegan be a non-factor. Yeah, they were aggressive with him on D and the calls weren’t going his way, but they’re not going to go his way on the road in the B1G either. He’s got to get used to it.

As for the minutes, well, I think everybody here sees Perkins has more he can give this team, although a couple times tonight he was a bit out of control, but at least he’s trying to make something happen. The ISU D was very good and most of our guys don’t have the moves or grit to fight through that stuff. Connor, Patrick, Joe T, Ulis… none of them are scorers really.

Rebounding is a huge problem. Like, it’s awful. This team sucks at it.

last thing - while I get ISU hates Bohannon and frankly they have good reasons to, those chants were not funny after the first time. I thought it was a bad look for their fan base. Not sure if it came through on TV or not, but in person it was over the top and just not a good look.

Well if you pull the stunts bohannon has what do you expect? I enjoy beating our rivals as much as everyone else but if you go out of your way to disrespect them with the shoe stuff and twitter talk you can expect to get it back. Our fans would treat any rival who acted similarly the same way.

C''mon, the "one more year chanat" was funny. And JorBo deserves everything he gets. He made his bed the last time he was at Hilton.

the “one more year” was funny, I’ll admit that.

If you’re proud of the rest, well, I wouldn’t be.

What were the chants?

Wasn't at the game but some thoughts
1. I agree the F Bohanon repeatedly was over the top, would have loved to be there and take my grandsons to experience Hilton but i don't need that. Everybody understands the ISU hate for Bohanon and I think he enjoys it also. Im not a preacher, i do use the word but there is a time and a place.
2. I hate the announcers aren't at the games. Awful. So is that still some COVID thing or is ESPN so broke they can't afford plane tickets and a hotel room?
3. The game itself, ISU defense is much improved. I still think Iowa has a good offense and from earlier games i saw they looked better on defense. Iowa shot poorly and sometimes that just happens, but what really jumped out was a fairly small but yes athletic ISU team destroy them in rebounding. That seems to be mostly effort and technique.
4. Fran to TJ after the game "what is this thing of which you speak, The Portal"?

Last night, the Hawkeyes shot 27% for field goals
total and that included 18% from 3 point land.
Iowa State really had a defense that never let
Iowa get comfortable all evening. Keegan Murray
can expect more of that in Conference games.

Brandon kicked the **** outta Trump
iu

I don’t know the answer to the rebounding problem but I will say there are three players who should be playing max minutes: Murray, Murray and Perkins. iSU is playing late season level defense and our guys couldn’t hit squat, even on open close range shots. I couldn’t understand why ISU was an underdog in their place and I’m not shocked we got blown out. This is a young, .500 type team that is going to be up and down and last night was the turd we should have known was coming. There will be good surprises and this is a fun team to watch, but it’s a rebuilding year.

Lute is 100% correct here. If we don’t make shots we are capable of this team will get run out of the gym. Can’t press until a made shot. Can’t rebound very well. Easy to see we will live and die by our outside shooting. That’s not good for us!

The clown defense was very good, but let's not kid ourselves, everyone on the team had a poor shooting night. There were a lot of open shots, some at point blank range that we just didn't put in the basket. Hopefully, they got it out of their system and we won't see 27% shooting again this season.

Bohannon earned all he got last night by leaving his shoes there 2 years ago. Karma's a bitch.
This is pretty much my thoughts. In fact, I feel like the whole general beatdown was just karma from the shoes incident two years ago (and other unnecessary public trash-talking). That's why you don't pull that kind of crap ... it almost always ends up biting you and your team in the ass eventually.

Yeah, the Hawks probably could have scored another 20 points pretty easily by just making point blank shots.

Part of that is due to isu defense making them rush though.

Or don't play 6 years.

Very Michigan State level defense. Grab, push, bump, and see how many you can get away with.

Iowa State's fans lack both the class and the intelligence of the pigs in ISU's ag program.

But the ISU basketball team is fantastic. Too bad they play in front of a profane cult.
The word class and isu is never in the same sentence together for a reason. Little bro has had an attitude problem since the 1800’s.

Bohannon did have to eat that this year. No way he does what he did last trip if he actually thinks he has another game there.
Bohannon was hardly the reason they lost. I'm pretty sure those chants didn't bother him but without question ISU was certainly up for this game. Sometimes it is best to let sleeping dogs lie.

Same as the Illinois game. Im afraid we’re going to struggle scoring this year in the BIG, we have 2 true shooters. 1 can’t get open and the other is a frosh. The way the game is played now, if you don’t have shooters it’s very difficult to win. ESPECIALLY without a great defense!

This presumes he was bothered by the Clown fans' behavior. I doubt that he was.
This also presumes that leaving the shoes was a felony, or at the least, an incident. I loved it. Adds spice to the rivalry.

Actually the last 3 games have had a ton of point blank missed layups and dunks.

Normally you chalk that up to being a fluke but its a little concerning now 3 in a row.

Illinois and Purdue are wins if Iowa makes layups and ISU would have been a lot closer.

Lack of outside shooting is one thing but lack of finishing at the rim is an even bigger problem if it keeps up.

Im hoping part of that is learning to play through contact.

I think its clear he loves the attention.
