I'm not usually a complainer but this was a very winnable game. It had about everything from a couple of coaching farts to the worst QB performance of my 65 years of watching Hawk football. Nate has give us some very good games but this can't be covered up. He just plain stunk and I don't know if he'll recover from it.
This is a game we all circled at the beginning of the season as a loss. Yes, it sucks after the fact because, like the Wisconsin game, could have won. However, we run the table and I believe we can still end up in Indy as beating NW would leave us with identical conference records, which I think would give us the nod. Wisconsin still has to play Purdue and Penn State, so I think they will lose another game. But we cannot afford another slip up.
If Iowa wants to go to that next level, we have to start winning games like today and against Wisconsin. These are extremely winnable games that Iowa let slip away. It is incredibly frustrating. I still have hopes for this team to finish strong, but Iowa has got to start winning these kinds of games.
Our oline play was poor and our qb play was also poor. McSorley is a true leader and a winner. Tough to win in that environment against a pretty good team with their season hanging in the balance. Still have to beat Purdue and NW, those are both winnable games.
