I hate to break it to you, but the main argument they make about Iowa being well run is our credit rating. Iowa first achieved our perfect credit rating under Culver in 2010.

The guys been Czar of Iowa for the better part of 30 years and doesn't get any credit for our state's awesomeness.

That's one of the arguments. They do use other metrics also. My point was not anti Culver but pro Branstad. If he the lousy governor many on the left say he is he certainly would have ruined our standing instead it's improving.
There is absolutely nothing positive about Braindead. The man is as worthless as an ejection seat on a helicopter. He's equivalent to the aftermath of an enema.
I like him because his kids can kill people and get away with it.
He's been keeping Iowa from becoming Illinois since 1980.

Governor Branstad has been one of the least divisive governors and politicians in my lifetime.

I'm guessing shutting down an entire sector of our juvenile and mental health treatment isn't big on the "factors" for many websites. Lucky for him none of those people's deaths / further troubles have seemed to bother the public, so hes got that going for him.
Terry is the not only the greatest current Governor but the greatest Governor in the history of the United States.
He has guided this state to greatness.
And that is just one of the many reasons he keeps getting elected.
He's an asshole of epic proportions. He's an evil person. There's absolutely nothing positive about him.
Only a SFB could possibly think Branstad is anything more than a piece of shit.
Branstad's entire philosophy has been to diligently build power through chasing 50.1 percent of the electorate, and all of the Farm Bureau's money. He was never one to use the power, except now where he is in an orgy of dictatorial actions.

I"ll never understand the strong level of resentment towards him. If ever there was a governor who dialed down the rhetoric and got things done, it is Brandstad.

Greatly elevated by the 12 years he was out of office and Vilsack and Culver ran things. Branstad is the worst thing that has happened to Iowa in my 66 years.

Why do I hate Branstad?
His son is a killer who was never appropriately punished.
His views on public education funding are inexcusable.
His complete lack of concern for people utilizing mental health programs, and funding for said services.
Privatizing Medicaid with strong elements of political favoritism, and again without regard for the individuals requiring the system

You couldn't be more wrong. Culver is a far better human than Branstad could ever hope to be.
As a human being I'm sure the Big Lug is a great person. As a politician though the he was horrible and the Casinos flat out owned him.
Definitely not a union man but I do support them. Even though technically I'm a 'state employee' much of my salary comes via NIH grants. Thank you to those who pay federal taxes.
Branstad has repeatedly let down conservatives by dialing up the rhetoric then failing to deliver. He's run hard right every time but refuses to try and accomplish what the far right wants. This infuriates them and reinforces my opinion that he has no real core values. A craven lust for power is not a core value.
I have a friend who is a die hard, full blown, party first GOPer who can't stand Branstad almost entirely for this reason.
I don't hate the guy, but he does only what will get him elected and I'm not sure that he cares what margin of victory it is. He's kind of like KF.
