Bad Sign for Football: tOSU has suspended all on campus classes thru the end of July

OK. But then what would you say about the "leader" of a country of 330 million who ignored warnings about all of this for at least six weeks? Then his initial response was politically motivated, saying it was a "hoax" perpetrated by the opposing political party. Then he said it was just another "flu" and was no big deal. Then he said it was "totally under control" and "nothing to worry about," so even if you're sick, "go to work."

Then that same chap held daily "briefings" during which he consistently offered false information based on his "hunches" rather than scientific facts from medical experts with decades of experience dealing with these exact issues. And then he stopped allowing the experts to even share the podium because he was tired of having his dangerous, clueless hunches corrected.

Then that same entity said this would all blow over, and in the meantime it was more important to get the economy going again than to worry about a few hundred thousand Americans dying. After all, "Thousands of people die from the flu every year." And earlier this week, while saying he wasn't responsible for the failed response to this disease and that it wasn't his job to see that doctors, nurses, first responders and hospitals have enough masks, ventilators, and tests, he found the time to brag about what great TV ratings his briefings have.

There's more, much more, but the one person who has placed every American in mortal danger from COVID-19, the one person with blood on his hands, lives at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. If you want to go after people who are "willing to put other people's lives at risk," might as well start at the top. IMHO, of course.

Oh and if they (Schiff for brains) had not been wasting all that time to try to impeach over made up buillshit maybe he could have been a little more focused.

Living in the middle of Buckeye country, many football fans here will attach little or no significance to the absence of in-person classes. However, no football-- that is reason for a revolution!

Look, Italy had 1 soccer game attended by 40,000 people in the stadium and corona exploded in the country just from that 1 event. So there is 0 chance of a college football season in 2020. people will not be allowed to gather in large numbers like that.

you are pretty naive if you think this one soccer game is the reason why it exploded in Italy.

Before you read what follows, note that KF and other B1G programs have stated they would need 60 days to get ready for a regular season.

funny with all your doom and gloom articles that you post you’ve ignored one from Dabo Sweeney today saying he feels like it’s a 100% chance season will be played. And as long as players are good to report come fall camp in early August season will be played.

but Kirk herbstreidt does? What I was getting at plenty people optimistic for everyone one pessimistic such as the OP post. End of the day no one knows how this will look like in 2 weeks let alone 2 months. But we have people like the OP throwing out every doom and gloom scenario opinion article he finds. People like that lives must be miserable. God forbid someone shows the opposite view point.

one potential. in about 4 to 5 weeks people will be able to antibody tests to see if they have already had it. if that shows a higher % having had it then we put up the open sign. Dr Oz stated this evening that 50% of people who get it wont even know they had it. that is some hope that we just are taking the big wave and that would be mostly it.

Obviously, no one wants football, basketball and wrestling to be canceled in the fall and winter.

At the time of our final reg season game at Illinois, no one could have imagined March Madness and Wimbledon would be canceled and that the NBA, NHL, MLB and MLS would be postponed indefinitely.

When it comes to college sports: From everything I have heard and read, if they can't get the students back on campus and back in classrooms, its going to be hard to start up football and then basketball and wrestling.

If students are banned from campus, the players are likely going to be still locked out from practice facilities.

I believe, too, that there are only 16-18 football players in Iowa City at the moment; all other players are back home. And, as we know they are on their own for conditioning and workouts.

Does this mean you're not going to vote for Mr. Trump if there is an election:p

As Lee Corsco would say, not so fast. No election by Jan 2021 means Trump’s term along with VP Pence and all their cabinet AND ALL House of Representatives (eliminates Nancy P.). Next in line who is still in office is Senate Pro-tem which is...............

The honorable Charles Grassley from Iowa.

yeah I doubt it.

I've heard from an administrator in our district, that the next step for school closures in Iowa is not through the end of the school year, but also through the end of July. This results in complete cancellation of all spring and summer high school sports. The ban would mean no one can be on school grounds until August 1, which will also impact high school programs who utilize an on campus weight room, open gyms, 7 on 7s, etc.

The universities have led the way on cancellations thus far. I think we will see more of these "through July" cancellations soon.

Unless we find out a large % of population has had this virus, which we will find out in May/June, there will not be fall sports. There can be school (a necessity) without sports (non-necessity). If only say those tests show some small % have had it then we stay in social distance mode with only essential activities and school coming back in August would be one of those, but they would can the sports. All about the book learning at that point.

Testing will get ramped up so anyone can get one. Anyone with symptoms would get a test. If positive you are out of school for 14 days. Somehow they would have to do school lunches a bit different. Maybe people are served in separate rooms in smaller groups. And they run robot bleach misters through the halls and rooms at night.
