I have been watching Iowa basketball since 84-85. I think he might be my favorite player. He has reignited the enthusiasm I had when I was a younger fan. Love that kid.

Dude can flat out play. Would be a useful player on any team. He has a stretch or two where he does 2-3 straight things in a row so well. Block a shot, then grab the board, come down on offense, get in the lane and kick it out for an open 3. Rinse. Repeat.

That's the secret to his unique value to coming off the bench. He almost immediately begins the havoc and improves the team performance. A unique force multiplier that creates opportunities for Iowa in several ways.

All energy all the time. Lot's of guys play well off the bench but very few have Baer's kind of impact as soon as he's on the court.

I was slow to appreciate Baer. Last year he was a decent role player, but I thought he was over matched a lot on the defensive end and was at best a backup. This year his hustle + bb instincts shine through and just make so much happen on the court. Glad he is only a sophomore...still time to improve on shooting. He looks decent off 1-2 dribbles so adding a consistent 3 and/or a pull up jumper could make him a real threat on the offensive end. The beauty of the potential of this team is they should be able to score inside and out and have 5 guys on the court who are at least a threat to score at all times.

I'm amazing at his ability to consistently block shots on the inside. He isn't a jumper but he has long arms and great timing. I don't recall another player of his size being able to disrupt so many shots while defending at the same time.
