Barta needs to publicly quote PRESSURE on Coach and staff

Acountable, this Coach needs to be accountable for who he recruits, how he teaches this game, how he gets a group of young men to play together. When hired Coach Fran promised Iowans fast-paced basketball. And all he has done class after class is recruited slow, unathletic, kids. No point guard(s)

It's clearly not working and we have horrifically regressed. These are upper classmen as well. And only time will tell what happens next but he gets NO vote of confidence at this point period.

Least ferentz shaked up his staff and brought in some fresh blood for his assistants when things started to stagnate. We’ve had same assistants the whole time and after last 2 games Francis and speraw proved they don’t deserve to be a head coach anytime soon.

Barta's already had to can his first terrible hire in basketball. No way will he put public pressure on fran because he will basically be admitting that he eff'd up once again. Dont think many ad's get the chance to hire that many coaches before the university realizes its the ad who is incompetent .

I believe that the only person who can fire Barta is the University President and with the new President (Barta came in for Bowlsby in 2006 ahead of Sally Mason's reign) Bruce Herrald, he might be the guy to make the change. Hard to believe Barta is only 55. Looks older. IMHO, he has been a bigger mistake than Bowlsby. A poor leader. Poor communicator and fails to document. He has cost the University millions in legal bills and settlements because of his lack of documentation and leadership.

Barta needs to be axed. NOW!

Except Harrald fully supports Barta......so Barta isn’t going anywhere.

Barta is still the AD. When one of his coaches underperforms, he has the right to demand that he at least makes some changes to his staff to try and rectify the problem. Outside of an outright firing, it really is the least he should do.

This is one thing I'm surprised Fran hasn't done is shake up his staff some. Bring in a defensive minded coach. It worked wonders for Bielen and Michigan. Then again as his former and current players have all stated Fran is a very loyal guy so maybe I shouldn't be too surprised. From an Iowa perspective we've seen good things with Ferentz bring in new younger coaches that have done a good job the last few years.

As for Barta he has shown to be spineless when it comes to forcing coaches out in male sports minus Lickliter and that was only due to half the team leaving and the other half threatening too including Gatens if he didn't canned.

I just don't understand what the deal is with all these rich, blind-faith big-time donors that continue to unconditionally throw money at Barta without any regard for how well the teams perform. Every year you hear about college AD's and coaches getting canned when the athletic department came under fire from the donors. Do all of them seriously not give a rat's arse about winning? I just don't get it. These richies probably got their money in business by being ultra competitive and wanting to constantly improve and be the best. I just don't see how those kinds of personalities can be turned off when it comes to their favorite sports teams, to the point of "Oh, well, our teams sucks again; at least I got my luxury boxes and my spoiled daughters can post cool selfies on instagram now." I'll never understand.

Bielen has gotten better recruits into his program and the state of Michigan has many more D-1 basketball talents, annually. Bielen is a better coach than Fran overall. Who does Fran fired (retire) to find that coach? Why hasn't he done this yet? Insanity!
