This was no fluke. It was no accident. We didn't lose this game - they beat us. Check out the shocking team stats comparison. The Bison were the better team in all aspects today. As an Iowa alum and fan of over 60 years, it really pains me to say this, but NDSU deserved to win this game. Congrats to their fans, and I expect they'll be following their team to yet another FCS Championship title this year. I'd love to see them move up to the FBS.

Next Saturday is a new day. GO HAWKS!!

That's a very fast and loose interpretation of the OP. We got beat. By an FCS team. It's unacceptable, but that's what happened. What do you mean by "be OK" with it? Admitting defeat is not the same thing as accepting it. If you'd watched the game, you'd know that's what happened. Nothing left to do but continue. I hope you sleep at some point this week.

Congratulations to North Dakota State University. They are an elite FCS program and played with the type of aggression that we wish the Hawks played with on a consistent basis.

I'm frustrated that we dropped passes, missed blitzes, and played so conservatively but it's time to move on to Rutgers and start off 1-0 in the Big Ten. There's still alot to play for this season so here's to improvement and success the rest of the season. Go Hawkeyes!

I don't think anyone is okay with what happened and it was embarrassing. It was also obvious that we got pounded in the trenches and they deserved to win.

Agreed. They have a classy program and fan base. They earned and deserved this win.

Pushing this toward its logical conclusion: everyone sat in different places. The Bison fans showed up as impressively as their team. A lot of green around the stadium and a big win for their team. Only gripe is the late hit (which was penalized).

NOT SAYING WE LOST BECAUSE OF THE REFS

I put that in all caps so people would see it.

But, they sucked today. Just calling it like they should probably results in a few more iowa points (its amazing that on several obvious holding plays it wasn't called) and a maybe win.

We're very handsy in the secondary.

The one thing that I'm surprised Iowa didn't do is more passing. I think the game would have been much more even if Iowa wouldn't have been quite so conservative. As it was played, NDSU definitely was the better team.

Until NDSU becomes FBS, they will sail into the sunset now of who cares. You really only hear about them when something like this happens. I knew they had won a bunch at that level, but not the extent of 5. Shows how much it really matters in the end.

For Iowa, a possible playoff spot is what it cost at the national level.

Really though, that's a good team. I hope my USD buddies get two in a row.

IOWA sucked today.....no excuses. The Bison came in prepared and well-coached and licked us.

Conservative play has been an echoing complaint among the IOWA fans since Kirk Ferentz has been at the helm.

Our team was absolutely flat coming out of the lockeroom. It's hard to get up for an FCS opponent even when they are good and other crappy programs. Lose-lose proposition when you have 9 more FBS schools to play. Hats off for them for playing their tails off for 4 quarters. This means a great deal to their program to keep recruiting in the FCS. They have a series of defacto bye weeks after us so why not lay it out there? They will not play another big game like this any time soon. It's bigger than anything else they could have played in.

At the end of the day they scored a whopping 17 points of offense despite some nice stats and beat us on a last second FG. They were behind for the majority of the contest. All despite us playing another Rowl Bowl'eque dog crap game. This probably illustrates we are just not that good. Probably another 6-6 variety season we have seen for 5 of the last 6 years. Could be a 5 win season if we screw up again which very possible. We've also seen this movie before losing to bad teams on a last second score. Insert your garden variety 2-3 win FBS team instead of NDSU. If this game had been against a legit FBS team we would have been smoked by 50 with that effort, game plan and execution.

Wait, you won on the last play of the game but if Iowa would have passed more the game would have been more even? You act like you blew out Iowa. Yes, NDSU won but if your kicker would have missed that kick, Iowa would have escaped. Not sure I understand your view point.

I wouldn't take anything away from NDSU but Iowa most certainly could and should have won that game.
They were handicapped some with injuries and Kittle did not hold that guy.
And most disappointing of all is the coaching staff didn't show up.
