*****Bennett Stirtz & Isaia Howard will follow Ben McCollum to Iowa City. Who else will be? 10 of 15 Roster spots filled*****

No kidding. I can't imagine that the 3rd best player on a 15th-place B1G team is someone who is going to turn around the fortunes of a competitive team and take them over the top. I would think that is what that amount of $ would be used for. Crazy talk.
He was Iowa's best all-around player this past year. Defends & shoots better than anyone else on the team He will have multiple offers & can pick & choose where he wants to play. Haven't seen a list of who has contacted him, but it will be a long list & include several blue bloods. BM would love to pair him with Stirtz. Hope he comes back to the Hawks.

Agreed, and if that kind of money is on the table guaranteed, you take it and roll. And I absolutely want him back in IC BTW.

Until I hear he is gone, I am holding out a hope (dream) of having a Stirtz/Dix backcourt. Not so sure money is the most important thing to Josh, although he going to need to be paid some real $$$.
I would guess Josh might want to find someone who can prepare for him for a potential NBA career.

As much as I like B-Mac, that’s not something he has on his resume just yet. (Stirtz could change that.)

When you have been coaching D2, not surprising. It sure seems like BMc gets players to maximize what they have, and that is considerable with Josh. Under Fran, he was either the second or third option on offense, and his defense went under-appreciated because most of the other players were not good defenders. If Josh came back, and Iowa was able to finish in the top third of the B1G, he and Stirtz would be getting plenty of attention. It will take a couple more high-level players, for that to be possible IMO.

On the other hand, he did coach Trevor Hudgins for four years at Northwest Missouri State and he played for the Houston Rockets last season. He is one of very few DII players to have played in the NBA recently. Stirtz will very likely play in the NBA after next season as well.

I think the Sandforts are Hawkeyes for life. Hopefully that is enough where Pryce is back next season.

I wonder how he feels about Fran being let go
I'm sure it was difficult, because they go way back. However, he was recruited and came to the Hawks under Lickliter, so I have to consider him more "Hawkeye" than 'Fran guy.' Also, if he wants to stay in the coaching business, he's going to have to learn to not be holding grudges when colleagues of his lose jobs, because it will likely happen a lot. It's a tough business. Knowing absolutely nothing about MG's personal feelings on this, I would predict that if BMac wants him on his staff, he'll stay, unless he'd rather pursue a D-II head coaching position. It sure seems like the best choice for him being as objective as I can.

Agree with your post.. But I'm pretty sure Gatens was actually an Alford recruit. Looks like he was a freshman Lickliter's 2nd year, so he must have committed early. Your point remains, though.

it's never easy when someone gets fired. Fran and Matt will always be close. I wish the best for both of them

Yeah, I mean his dad ran on to the field and stole Woody Hayes’ hat off of his damn head.

Dude is a Hawkeye.

Does Twitter AI work?

The full text of what follows:

Iowa could target skilled guards like Donovan Dent (New Mexico) and Isaac McKneely (Virginia) in the transfer portal to fit Coach McCollum's efficient, guard-heavy system. Versatile forwards like Tavion Banks and Cam Manyawu from Drake, familiar with McCollum, are also realistic options.

I don't see Dent as a fit. His game does not match Coach McCollum's efficiency style.
