Ben's offense looked great against Mizzou; great ball movement, cutting, slashing, extra passes for layups

I live in Des Moines, I went to vets when young in the 1960's and loved Drake Bball. Iowa was my first team though and I dont see Coach Ben's offense as being low scoring even if they go deep into the shot clock.

I didnt watch this year's Drake team much except for highlights. But I watched the Mizzou game and there is that Princeton type offense in play.

I would rather have 40 layups and dunks taken than 40 treys taken. Dunks and layups are about a 95% make while treys are a 30-40% make rate. Yeah you will get a few offensive rebounds off of missed treys but you do the math. Or I will, 40 dunks and layups equals about 74 points while 40% made baskets out of 40 treys is 16 baskets x 3 pts = 48 points.

Late in the Drake - Mizzou game when drake's lead was cut down, Drake did great at making Mizzou pay for overplaying and chasing them by getting layups and dunks to put it away.

I think I will be back to watching all of the hawks games next year. Oh and the defense will get better

I agree. Players made hard cuts to specific spots depending on what the ballhandler was doing, it appeared. And ballhandler seemed to know exactly what cutter was doing and when. A thing of beauty.

I listened to an interview this afternoon where Ben talked about other D2 coaches contacted him because they liked the NWMS offense. Shot selection really stands out as he talks about taking good shots so the ball goes in and they can set the defense. The offense and defense really compliment each other and I can't wait to see what it looks like here.
