On CNN he was asked to give the odds of Bernie passing his single-payer proposal in the next few years. His answer was something like "if you want a candidate who's vision is limited to what you think you can get through this Republican Congress, you should vote for Kasich."

Now obviously he isn't saying people should vote for Kasich. But it's interesting that the picked Kasich over the other R choices.

Sadly, the CNN hacks didn't ask him if that meant he thought Kasich was the best Republican. But it isn't an unreasonable inference.

He is probably the best R option still on the debate stage, especially if the measure is who will get the most done with congress.

It would be interesting to see how he'd do with a Dem Congress. Not that there's much chance of that.
My guess is he would do fine. Ds are born compromisers and always work with R Presidents if the goal is to take on a problem. Kasich isn't one of those "cut every regulation and tax" sort of bomb throwers, which is why he is probably not long for this race.

He's saying if Sanders was to be successful he would need the Republicans in Congress to be similar to Kasich. He certainly could've stated that better and you're right, the kids at CNN failed to pursue it further.
