Best extant bars in Iowa City

So I realized I haven't been to a good number of today's bars in Iowa City. I like a local dive/homie bar. I've never been to Shakesphere or Club Car.

I usually just go to Joe's Place or Big Grove when I'm in town. Sometimes Shorts for a burger.

What are the top ones right now in your opinion?

We tried to go to Sheakspeare's last week and it wasn't open - 2 Saturdays ago.

I worked at Hy-vee across from Shakespeare's for years. Many times would swing by the bar after shifts. It's exactly what you think it is. Greasy fried food, cold beers, golden tee, older desperate women. Field of dreams should have been shot there.

Pizza Pub? Sam's or Airliner

Cocktails? St. Burch or Stuffed Olive
Depressing? Jobsite or Club Car
You're too old for it? Summit or Roxxy's
All around good joint? Joe's or Vine

I'm not sure I'm going to be able to fit them all in before I leave!

I always make a stop at George's because I know the owner and a most of the bartenders.

Plus it feels like home and I like their burgers.
