I saw this thread started in the Lounge, but i have friends coming down for their first experience to Iowa City. We plan on tailgating all day (of course) and then look for a place to watch the game. What are everyone's suggestions, besides inside of Kinnick?

To be brutally honest, they just decided to come down and tickets aren't cheap, which I'm glad why they aren't cheap. Figured tailgating and going to a bar is better than nothing.

Tickets will be plentiful and cheap.

I am sure you will end up spending the same amount at the bar and forget the game than you would to pay for a scalped ticket and actually remember this memorable game and experience. Especially since it's your first time to Iowa City and potentially Kinnick. Probably time to take the "hawk" out of your username to be more accurate.

My preference of dt bars for games would be in this order. Mickeys, spoco, the vine, airliner and joes. You could also go to the vine or wig n pen in coralville. As long as you can get a space all places will be rockin.
