Joe Biden's job approval rating is 40%, a step down from the 44% measured in August but still above his term-low 38% from July. In all other months in 2022, his approval rating has been in the 40% to 42% range.

The Oct. 3-20 survey finds 56% of Americans disapproving of Biden's performance, unchanged from September and midway between his highest (59% in July) and lowest (53% in August) disapproval scores this year.

Biden's approval ratings continue to be starkly different by political party, with 85% of Democrats and 4% of Republicans approving. The 81-point gap in party ratings matches the average for Biden's presidency to date, and is the same level of polarization measured in Donald Trump's job approval ratings, on average.

Thirty-nine percent of political independents approve of the job Biden is doing, which is slightly above the 36% average approval rating among independents from January to September.

Biden Seventh-Quarter Approval Average Fairly Typical

Biden averaged a 42% job approval rating during his seventh quarter in office, which spanned July 20 through Oct. 19. That average is similar to what most other elected presidents dating back to Jimmy Carter received during their seventh quarters in office. The major exceptions were George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush, who had significantly higher ratings tied to the U.S. response to Iraq's invasion of Kuwait and the 9/11 terrorist attacks, respectively.

Carter, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton and Trump all averaged 41% or 42% approval during their seventh quarter, while Barack Obama's 45% average during that time was slightly higher.

In my opinion if he had stayed away from the Jim Crow 2.0/Jim Eagle/Ultra Super Duper Maga rhetoric he'd be polling better.

Stay with what got him elected in the first place....good old Joe. Letter his surrogates in the party do the dirty work.
40% is about where America has been the past decade or so.....Tribalism is on the increase.....America is one phuqued up nation.....As Iowa races to become the next Mississippi, the USA races to become the next Soviet Union. All "we the people" wanna do is point fingers and bitch at "the other guys".....Solutions would require thinking, compromise and effort....America doesn't want any of that stuff......"we" might become successful if we did!

Joes approval ratings were in the high 50's last summer.

Plunged to 40 because of the economy, Afghanistan and I'd argue his administrations messaging.....in particular his messaging. Going after basically half the country ain't good for a President (see Trump).

Like I said...leave the attacks to your surrogates.

They plunged because he has been in office a year longer.......Dems do a piss poor job of "messaging" but they always have....its part of their beauty.....Anyone who believes Biden is responsible for today's economy is a moron....this thing has been coming at us for years and trying to emerge from Covid provided the "ooomph" needed for a full blown inflation.....Biden/Dems were in the WH at the wrong time......Honestly binsfield, the frustration here for me is that the GOP is not even offering a solution.....because theyb understand there is no comfortable solution to be had. Those who choose to deal with today's economy/inflation effectively are looking at short terms in office.

joel...if there was a R president they'd be getting blamed for the economy. Comes with the job.

Damn. Interesting to see Reagan and Clinton that low early. Everyone knows damn well a resurgence of Biden into a good president isn’t in the cards though.

Why not?
contrary to MAGAt trash talk, Biden has dogs a lot of Presidential stuff in his fist 18 months. But then a lot of folks (such as you) wouldn’t know it if you fell unto it.
Biden's biggest fault to date is tge timing of his Presidency. Biden has had to undo a lot of shit done by his traitorous predecessor.

He’s clearly not all there mentally. It’s just extremely unlikely. Possible? Sure, but wouldn’t bet on it.

They’ve been out of the news since getting kicked out of the White House.

President Joe Biden’s younger dog Major this week was involved in his second biting incident of the month, the White House said Tuesday.

Despite months of increasingly positive economic indicators, the American public remains negative about the state of the nation’s economy, with 51% saying they think the economy is still in a downturn and getting worse, according to a new CNN poll.

This consistent pessimism, coupled with a stagnant and negative approval rating for President Joe Biden, could portend challenges for his attempt to sell voters on the success of his domestic agenda as a part of his 2024 reelection bid.

Biden’s overall approval rating stands at 41% in the new poll, about on par with where it’s been since the spring. His approval drops to 37% when Americans assess his handling of the economy and further still to 30% for his handling of inflation. Among political independents, a scant 26% approve of his handling of inflation.

We’re at one of the best inflation rates in the western world. Americans aren’t a bright bunch though.

It's a result of the high inflation of the last couple years. Haven't gone through that in quite a while as a nation...

People feel the effects of it directly which basically makes folks pessimistic about the economy.

Unemployment can fluctuate between 4-7% but the vast majority of folks still have jobs and aren't effected.

GDP numbers can be bad and most folks aren't really effected.

Inflation? Most folks are effected.

Most folks say Presidents get too much credit and too much blame for the economy and I agree. Unfortunately for Joe that period of inflation left a mark and was on his watch...

And the fact he is taking credit for the economy and even renamed an entire new type of economics after himself. Lol.

Sad what happened to the OP aka Natty Light. He disappeared into the night after Russia started getting their ass kicked.

You're drunk. Go to bed and jack one too Joe.

Do yourself a favor and educate yourself about the economy of the early 1980's and Reganomics...
Never heard of it lol.

What a dumb argument from you. Reagan did it so it’s ok the Biden does it. Good luck with that one. It was dumb for Reagan to do it as the left still uses that against his legacy and it’s dumb for Biden as it will be used a punchline if the economy goes even further south than it is perceived to be by the voters now.

Yep, it's that stuff that makes him sound like a winger, and a puppet.

No matter how many times the left says the economy is doing great it doesn’t matter if a large majority of the American people don’t believe so.

Not hard to see joe biden's failures... run away inflation, supply chain shortages of critical items especially baby food (caused 100% by the FDA which biden rewarded for screwing up), energy policy which now has us paying 4 dollars a gallon for gas (creeping close to 5 up here in Sun Valley, ID today..), the failed withdrawal from Afghanistan after trashing trumps exit plan and deals for withdrawal (all so he could try and have a 9/11 symbolic withdrawal date), his failures in controlling Putin for the second time in Ukraine (amazing that he invades Ukraine every time biden is in the white house) and let's definitely not forget the southern border crisis which he has done nothing to resolve. Oh, and apparently he loves talking about the weather with his sons international business partners.. he is the biden brand being sold after all (according to hunters business partner). Garbage president and maybe the worst ever (Jimmy Carter so happy he got to see the day that he slides down to the number 2 slot).

The American public doesn’t seem to think so

That's because you've been fed so much propaganda and been gaslit to think things are "going badly".

CEO of US Steel says otherwise - he says manufacturing in America is looking better than it has in >40 years. That's a HUGE benefit to Main St. America.

So, maybe take off the MAGA glasses here and see things for what they are. Republicans are trying to take credit for the on-the-ground results of the Inflation Reduction Act: something they voted 100% AGAINST.

Very much in-line with "ObamaCare"; where MAGAs interviewed/polled on the ACA responded that they hated "ObamaCare" but thought the "ACA was awesome". That's what Fox/Newsmax gaslighting does to your brain. So maybe take a break from those "news" sources and learn something you didn't know that's being hidden from you.

Gas is gonna go higher, Scruddy....The Saudi’s told us so over a month ago. Saydi’s Just announced yesterday they are extending their cuts in oil production 1 million barrels a day) they the end of September....meanwhile US oil production reaches record highs.

63% of Americans have been brainwashed? Do you believe 63% of Americans are Maga?

Proof of that?

I think it's more about inflation hitting them in the pocket the last couple years. Inflation is tangible and evident to anybody paying attention to prices...

Haven't had a stretch like that since the early 80's so it was bound to leave a mark...
