BIG Fines OSU and MICH

$100,000 for yesterdays aftergame brawl.
That was the kind of BS we expect from SEC teams. It was a huge fiasco that ruined a great upset. Michigan should be ashamed of itself for initiating this nonsense. Learn how to win with class. Take the W and go home. Michigan should suffer a far worse consequence than the tiny fine. Ohio State reacted like most anyone would. The Buckeyes should not be given the same penalty as the idiots who started the whole thing. The BIG made a bad situation worse by failing to come down much harder on Michigan and making it clear it was entirely their fault.

This is why college sports needs a commissioner. There clearly should be suspensions, but it's not in the B1G's financial interest to do so - because the conference wants it's teams to advance in the playoffs.

Same for Hurley at UConn... how does he get away with his antics? Val Ackerman (Big East Commish) turns a blind eye because of money.

If nobody is standing up for what is right - for sportsmanship - what are we even doing?

Perhaps teams should only be allowed to warmup on their side of the field inside the 40 yard line.

No visiting cheerleaders. No flags allowed on field.

Any violations results in massive fines. As in 7 figures.

Treat them like children if they insist on acting like it.

True enough. I would not expect Iowa players to let the Nebbers plant a flag on the Tigerhawk had they won friday. That shit don't fly......

Nonsense!

While one side started it, it doesn't excuse the response. You simply can't attack/assault people over a non violent act of planting a flag.

Needs to be a rule for automatic suspensions for any players planting a flag on the opposing teams field. And the head coach should be suspended.

It's a culture thing and for all the things we complain about KF for.... I'm proud that his team would NEVER consider doing that type of sh*t.

Road wins.... our team visits the Hawkeye section of fans and celebrates.

I watched the game then turned it off. I didnt see the melee but the conference needs to look at this and come up with some future rules and penalties.

Make it so you can plant a flag on your sideline if you want but not on the field for safety reasons.

Need suspensions for fighting as I heard and read that some punches were thrown. That is just poor sportsmanship to a high degree.

The OSU players should have just gone to their locker room to figure out why they lost because they played so poor.

I actually wanted to see OSU win because of the rematch with Oregon and because no way did I want to see Franklin and PSU in the title game.

I agree there should be stiffer penalties, but I don't agree about bringing your flag and "planting it" on the sideline. Its not your house. Show some respect. If OSU wins in the big house next season will they be okay with the bucknuts "planting a flag".

This plus suspend the head coaches. It'll stop immediately. That shit happened bc Michigan's coach allowed it.

By pushing. It's debatable how much success they had pushing them off their logo, but they tried.

"attack/assualt" is hyperbole.

How about Michigan doesn't be ridiculously disrespectful to their opponent in the first place, and there won't be a problem.
You are joking right! I'd plant my flag on someones logo in that big of a game. It says more about how tough it is to win in the shoe and how big four straight is! If you are tOSU players, leave the field and work harder to plant your flag at Michigan the following year OR NOT. Do not lose at home to Michigan solves the problem.

Never played big boy sports did ya! There is always a wise arse in the house. The bigger better athlete walks away until next time. Iowa football has athletes that talk about being the character team in interviews about Nebraska. Starts in spring ball and keeps being built upon. Michigan, Ohio State, Nebraska all have some work to do in that little area about character. Nobody is perfect, if you don't lose at home to a rival it doesn't happen.

This is just nuts, which is a perfect description of today's college landscape.

On the football field or the basketball court, if you stare to long at an opponent or make a (gasp!) gesture toward the opponent sidelines, you get an unsportsmanlike penalty or a technical foul. A coach is penalized for (the horror!) being too far out on the field/court.

These knuckle draggers try to plant a flag on the home team's logo - and nothing happens to them.

Then the home team players rush out to fight and a brawl ensues - and nothing happens to them.

I guess these antics must be ok, huh?

This crap doesn't happen at Iowa. I wonder why? Maybe Hawkeyes don't have enough talent to start a fight?

Agree to disagree.

It's poor sportsmanship and low-class and disrespectful in my book.

The Texas coach agrees.

Sorry but I totally disagree. There have been countless instances of this happening in both college and the pro's and the melee's it caused say clearly that nobody agree's thats the thing the winner should do. As for your "there's always a wise ass in the house" I'd say the majority of posts on this thread say that your the outlier. Its also funny you saying that Iowa is a character team (which they are) and then you acting like anyone in Iowa's locker room would be okay with that nonsense. NEVER happen from an Iowa team on the road. NEVER. Have you ever seen the players carry a team flag out to an opposing field? How about those stupid chains or WWE style belts that teams like Miami give their defensive guys after a big play? The excessive look at me crap doesn't fit into a team based on culture.

Yeah, I agree, win with class but I was thinking that raising your flag off the field on your sideline is the type of thing that shows your colors but shouldnt cause a melee

You sure...I think this is where the whole thing started...this is the pregame (in case you didn't know the pregame happens before the post) with none other than tOSU captain...Jack Sawyer... leading the charge....just as he did when he ripped down the flag post game... I'm not saying Michigan didn't play its part but some of you are ignorant on how this happened
