Who is the best current coach in the BIG Conference? We all know the biggest names are in the east, but who is the Dean of west schools.

Is it Kill, Riley, Ferentz or Beck (cough cough)? Who will be at their current locale 4 years from now?

Don't you think the criteria is important to list?

Overall career? Last 5 years? Last Season?

If it was a power ranking, I would put Kill 1st. Overall body of work would have to go to Ferentz. Best potential/future I would say Chryst

Don't forget Pat Fitzgerald. He has done a pretty good job at NW. With the names listed I'd have to go Ferentz (which isn't saying much), Kill, Riley, Fitzgerald, Chryst, Beckman.

I thought past achievements, recruiting and future returns should all be considered. Roll them all into one sandwich.

The lifespan of a coach is far shorter these days so a coach like Paterno, and Bowden will not be seen again. Who will be around in ten years,if any? Who is the best recruiter, who deals with local media, fans and boosters?

These are all things a coach needs these days. Being a big time college coach is like being the CEO of a large corporation. You have to sell your program, cater to alumni boosters and make sure your players are all qualified academically. Being a college coach is much more than player development and coaching.

You need these qualities but you have to do so much more.

Ferentz will win 8 and 10 games the next two yrs and go on a 10 win run for a few yrs, then retire.

You heard it here first.

The one thing about football I love so much is the unpredictability. After VT beat tOSU last year and Oregon beat MSU everyone thought the BIG was dead.

Most of the year the SEC West was considered an NFL division. At the end of the year things changed dramatically. Who knows what will happen this year?
