Tough scheduling out of the box for Neb.
Losing to Lehigh makes that projection of Hawks going 22-2 in BIG suspect.

Nebraska and Indiana both scheduled tough out of the box. Iowa did also. We’ll know more about Iowa after next weekend.

Baseball happens.

Baseball happens.

I have been critical of what I perceive to be an overly influential role played by d1 Baseball but I noted earlier today that Iowa actually climbed two spots in d1 Baseball's poll released today.

Seems like they understand that "baseball happens" . . . particularly on Sundays and early in the year.

So you think someone was paying attention to the box score and or the pitching stats?

Also, I think you should start and ****Official RPI Watch**** thread so we can see where things go this season. Especially since you jinxed the Hawks and their #1 RPI rating in this thread ;)

It's interesting that Iowa schedules (and other teams do as well) games against schools like Loras and Grand View. I'm not sure I see what the benefit is other than cheap wins. The games don't count towards RPI, but do get to be counted as victories.

Read Heller's comments on this subject

FYI, Heller addressed this, I thought quite well, in his weekly letter. See link above.

Michigan had a decent opportunity to beat Coastal Carolina and ended up losing in the bottom of the 12th inning.

Updated after 3/23 and 3/24 games

The eight team field for the Big Ten Tournament is set, just seeding remains up in the air.

Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio State, Penn State and Purdue are in.

Maryland, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern and Rutgers are eliminated.

Illinois has clinched at least a share of the Big Ten title. Nebraska can clinch a share and the No. 1 seed in the BTT with a win in the regular season finale vs Michigan State -AND- an Illinois loss to Purdue. (Tie-breaker is record against common Big Ten opponents: Nebraska is 13-5, Illinois is 12-6) Any other scenario gives Illinois the conference title outright and the No. 1 seed.

Does the B1G get 2 teams into the NCAA Tournament no matter who wins the B1G Tournament?

What a disappointing season not just for Iowa fans but for those of us who wish that the B1G Conference were more respected, especially when it comes to tourney bids.

The Big Ten is the fourth-rated RPI conference. They should get more teams in than they will.

Nebraska is a lock, and now that Illinois has won the regular season title, I think they are in for sure. After that, hard to say. I "think" Indiana is on the bubble but probably needs to win a few games in the tournament, but even then not sure. I'm afraid it's a two-bid league, sadly, unless someone other than ILL ro NEB can win the tournament.

Here is how the seeding for the BTT looks to shake out pending Saturday's results:

- Illinois win -or- Nebraska loss: Illinois #1, Nebraska #2
- Nebraska win -and- Illinois loss: Nebraska #1, Illinois #2

- Indiana #3 (lock)
- Michigan #4 (lock)
- Iowa #5 (lock)

- Purdue win -or- Ohio State loss: Purdue #6, Ohio State #7
- Ohio State win -and- Purdue loss: Ohio State #6, Purdue #7

- Penn State #8 (lock)
